*Correction pen (any color except blue or black)

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR NOTEBOOK and READNG LOG CHECK

*The student must have a notebook exclusively for language arts(folders are unacceptable)
*The notebook must be arranged and labeled in the following 5 sections:  Daily Challenge, Word(s) of the Day, Journal (with a table of contents organizer), Home Learning, and Notes and Activities
*The student's notebook must have evidence of completed warm-ups, formatted notes and activities, and home learning assignments
*All work must have the appropriate classroom heading. A notebook paper that has several entries must show the date for each entry
*Reading logs must show evidence of daily entries varified (signed) by the parent/guardian or teacher

August 20th - August 22nd

1. Parents please read, sign, and return all forms
2. Purchase language arts supplies
3. Students must bring in their parent/guardian home learning assignment:  "In a Million Words or Less...."

1.  Students will oversee their parent/guardian home learning assignment:  "In a Million Words....".
2.  Have your classroom contract signed; purchase your class materials.
3.  There will be a quiz on the classroom rules and procedures in the very near future.  
4.  Organize your binder with five dividers labeled:  Daily Challenge, Word(s) of the Day, Journal, Home Learning and Notes/Activities.

August 28th - August 29th

1.  Start meeting your reading criteria goals.  Standard classes must read a novel with a minimum of 100 pages, and advanced classes must read a novel with a minimum of 150 pages (please refer to the parent letter).  NO GRAPHIC NOVELS ALLOWED!
2.  All contracts and parent home learning are due  September 3rd.

September 2nd - September 3rd

1.  Continue silent reading at home.  Record your reading time on your reading log sheet.

1.  Grammar and Language Workbook pages:  47-48 (carefully rip the page out and bring it to class)

September 10th - September 11th

1.  Publish your sensory writing draft that we began in class.  The letter "I" is always capitalized when used as a pronoun.  Please have someone at home proofread your writing.
