SPELLING WORDS for 10/6-10/10
SWAN, HIPPO, and DOG groups have the same words this week. We are working very hard on the skill for contractions.
The student's will be required to make sure the apostrophes are in the correct place!
**Spelling sentences MUST be questions.
1st Quarter Spelling HW Procedures
Monday - Color code words - vowels red, consonants blue, digraphs circled in green
Tuesday - ABC Order, make flash cards for studying
Wednesday - Sentences (I encourage the students to use more than one word in a sentence!)
Thursday - Study using flash cards for test on Friday.
Friday - Spelling Tests: The students are now more acclamated with the procedures for the spelling test. From this point forward (after 9/5 test), it will be a grade in my book for two subjects. The students will receive a spelling grade AND a writing grade.
What to look for in your child's backpack:
1. A blue homework folder.
2. Student planner.
3. Composition book for spelling homework assignments.
4. A purple folder - only sent home on Fridays, to be returned EMPTY on the following Monday.
What you may see in your child's backpack that does NOT belong there:
1. A yellow folder - this is their classwork folder that is supposed to stay in their desk.
2. A red folder - this is their social studies and science folder that belongs in their desk.
The Green math book stays home! If your child is in after-care, it may be in their cubby if they complete their assignments in school.
