Can you believe it is May already! Many of the
students feel that the school year is over. I have
come to this conclusion because over half of the class
missed recess one day last week due to students not
completing their homework! Please encourage your
children that we have 5 weeks of school left and their
focus and dedication towards their learning is needed
in order to make this school year a complete success.
We, as a class, have had a class meeting on Friday to
discuss this problem, and the students agreed that
their focus and level of respect for both themselves,
their peers, and their teachers have declined since
returning from Spring Break. We have agreed to work
together to make our last five weeks of Elementary
school a more positve, learning experience.
COMMON ASSESSMENT RESULTS FOR CYCLE 5:
On Friday, May 2,2008, I sent home with your child
their testing results for the 5th and final cycle of
Common Assessment testing in reading, writing, and
math. In order to ensure that parents have seen the
testing results, I am requiring that parents view,
sign, and return the assessment result form. Please do
this as soon as possible. If you have any questions or
concerns regarding these assessment results, please do
not hesistate to contact me.
END OF THE YEAR CLASS PARTY!
The students have decided to have a class party on the
next to the last day of school (Monday, June 2, 2008).
The students voted on a Hawaiian theme with games,
which will include some water games! We will begin the
party around 11:00 and end it at 12:30--lunch time.
Also, on that Monday directly after lunch (1:00 p.m.),
the 5th grade "clap out" will occur. This is where the
entire school lines up around the school and claps for
all of the 5th graders as they walk around the school.
It's a really neat thing to see, so if you are planning
to attend the party, then also try to plan to stay and
have lunch with your child and then stay for the 5th
grade clap out. Donations for the party will be
such as drinks, surgary store bought snacks (we are
permitted to have surgary snacks for this party), bags
of candy--the kids want to have a pinata. Please let
your child know what you are willing to donate so that
I can let the homeroom mom know. We have 21 students
+ a teacher and two homeroom moms. Please let me know
as soon as possible what you are willing to donate so
that I can keep my own personal cost down to a minimum.
CLASSROOM DONATIONS: We are low or out of the following
items:
-Hand sanitizer
-Tissues
-Healthy snacks
Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
