We have had several very busy and fun filled weeks with Field Day and Earth Day. This week we celebrate the Evening of the Arts on Thursday, April 24. Students that are singing should report to my room no earlier than 6:50 dressed in jeans and a white shirt. Second and third graders will sing at 7:00 and then you can browse throughout the school and see the beautiful art work created by our students.
We are continuing our Mystery Unit in Reading with Book Clubs. Students are in groups of 5 reading the same mystery. Students meet as a group to decide how much to read and what to discuss in the club. This enriches their reading experience by encouraging readers to be accountable for coming to their group prepared to have rich conversation about their reading. Reading Common Assessment #5 is on Wednesday,4/24.
We are working on Chapter 28, Fractions and Money, in Math this week. Chapter 28 test on Friday. If your child still has not mastered multiplication(YIKES!) keep working on those flash cards. Common Assessment #5 in math will be given on Monday, April 28.
In writing we are doing expository planning and writing. Our next Assessment will be next week also. We will move on to reading and writing poetry to finish out the year.
In Science we continue to learn about animals, and in Social Studies we are working with Maps.
Thank you as always for your support and work at home with our students.
