April/May
This year has disappeared……….I wish it wouldn’t end. My class has been fantastic and I have enjoyed every day with them. They are great workers and kind to each other. The teacher who has them next year is very fortunate. Thank you for all your support and kind words. The class couldn’t have made the progress they have without it.
A special thanks to Kathy Tracanna for putting our class name, Rains’ Rottweilers,on our t-shirts for field day. They look fantastic!!!
Reading:
We are starting book clubs where 4 students are reading the same book and having accountable talk. Book clubs will include mysteries and biographies. Your child will come home with assigned pages to read so the book club’s talk will be richer. It is important they keep up to support the group’s talk.
Writing:
We finished a limerick for St. Patrick’s Day and will begin getting ready for our last round of testing in deadline writing. Also, we will be working on a poetry unit. We will have our 5th assessments(reading, math, and writing) between the dates of 4/22-5/2. More testing!!!!!!!!!!
Math:
Chap. 27 test on Monday, 4/28 on decimals. Our next chapter is 28 and work with division.
Most students have learned their math facts and that will be so beneficial next year. I am very proud of them.
Social Studies:
We will end the year with our Pinellas County history unit. It will be lots of fun for the class. Thank you to Mrs. Tracanna for the material for our embroidery project.
The last weeks of school students want to teach the class. They will work in groups of their choice to teach any subject they like. I will enjoy watching them in action. They are the best.
We will have our last class party the last day of school, June 3rd at 9am. It is an abbreviated day, so we will have breakfast kinds of treats. More information will come later. Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Tracanna will let you know how you can help.
Also, see new web site for practice with spelling words. It is making a difference in spelling grades and the kids love it.
Thanks again for all your support.
Sincerely,
Veronica Rains
