Spiral Notebook or Composition book (100 pages minimum)
Protractor
Graph paper (10-20 sheets)
Regular paper
Compass
Calculator with square root key (optional but recommended)
Class rules:
Act and speak in an appropriate manner.
Remain in your seat during class.
Learn and follow class procedures.
Stay on task.
Demonstrate respect for your teacher and your classmates.
Class Procedures:
Raise your hand if you have a question.
Keep desks clear of all unnecessary items.
Turn in homework on time.
Come to class prepared. (Bring the required materials every day.)
Work on assignments in class if given time to do so.
Grading System:
Grading for the course is as follows:
Category Percentage of Class Grade
Chapter Tests 40%
Assignments 40%
Class Participation 10% (Active participation in this class is required.)
Course Final Test 10%
Assignments turned in one day late will be worth a maximum of half-credit. Assignments turned in later than one day late will not be accepted.
Making-up Assignments / Tests:
If a student is absent, it is the students responsibility to find out what work was missed (including tests) and to submit make-up assignments or take missed tests. Make-up work will be located in the Make-Up Work binder located in the classroom. Tests may not be made up during class discussion / lecture time. Students have the number of days missed plus two days to turn in make-up work or take a missed test. For example, if a student missed 1 day, they have 3 (1+2) days to turn in any work that was missed because of their absence. Similarly if a student is absent for 4 days, they have 6 (4+2) days to turn in missing assignments.
Time Spent Outside the Classroom:
While learning geometry may be difficult for students in the classroom, it is impossible to learn by spending excessive time outside the classroom. Time spent going to the restroom, getting a drink, or seeing other teachers about other assignments is to be kept to a minimum. The amount of time spent outside the classroom will be tracked, and when a limit set by the teacher is reached, further trips out of the classroom will result in written assignments for the student. Failure to turn in these assignments will result in the student being issued a written referral.
Discipline:
If a student violates classroom or school rules appropriate measures will be taken. Among these are parental contact, written detentions, lunch detentions, Saturday work details, written referrals and any other actions deemed necessary by the teacher.
Do not break the rules unless you are willing to accept the consequences.
