Course Description: This course should provide students with the opportunity to develop and individual level of cardiovascular and muscular fitness. They will acquire knowledge of basic fitness concepts. Students will begin to understand the importance of health related fitness to good health. Students will be introduces to different types of aerobic activities and actively participate in each activity. Students will create an aerobics routine using movements we use throughout term. At the end of the term the students will be assessed on their knowledge of activities performed throughout the semester including step terms, free weight exercises, and kick boxing moves.
Course Content and Activities: Each week the students will participate in aerobic activities which could include the following: step aerobics, circuit training, kickboxing, flexibility and stretching, resistance training with bands, fitness balls, walking/jogging, weight training. Measurements are taken periodically to assess improvements of personal fitness. Safety practices are used and reminded of on a daily basis. Tests are given to evaluate student’s knowledge of the activities. Furthermore, nutrition and the value of exercise and good health are discussed. Also, the students learn how to calculate their Target Heart Rate zone in order to make sure they are working out hard enough to achieve benefits.
Requirements: Dress out with the proper clothes and athletic shoes. Be prepared for class each day. Use school equipment responsibly and properly. Participate in all activities to successfully complete the course. Interact appropriately with teacher and peers. Have a positive attitude!

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this class is to allow students to acquire knowledge of team sports play, develop skills in selected team sports, improve health-related fitness components, which include cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition.

*Dress out in the proper clothes and athletic shoes everyday.
*Must participate in all activities to successfully complete the course.
*Use school equipment responsibly and properly.
*Respect yourself and others.
ATTENDANCE/MAKE-UP WORK:
Attendance is mandatory! Each student is responsible for making up activities missed due to absences. After missing 3 days in a 9 week class you must have a make-up slip from the attendance office in order to make-up the absence. Unexcused absences after number 3 will result in a zero for that day. To make-up an absence you may jog a determined amount or write a 2 page front and back report on any topic related to sports, health, nutrition, or fitness. I strictly follow school policies on attendance and make-up work.

Do not be late because you will be punished!
EVALUATION/GRADING PROCEDURES:
*50% of students grade will come from participation. 5 points each day for participation.
*50% of students grade will come from dressing out in appropriate clothes and shoes. 5 points each day.
*Each day is worth 10 points to every student.
