Multiview drawing. Basic (orthographic) drawing. AutoCAD assignments. TSA.

Begin "Inventor" 3D computer program use. Inventor commands and practice. Assigned drawings. TSA.

Intermediate "Inventor" 3D computer program drawing assignments. TSA.

Week 1     Chapter: 1-2    The World of Architecture & Basic House Design

Lab and Safety Procedures. Grading. Fire & Tornado Drill. Introduction to Architectural Drafting and related occupations. (See Chapter 39) Begin "Chief Architect" computer program use. Chief Architect commands practice. TSA meeting.

Week 2     Chapter: 13&17  Doors, Windows & Roof Designs

Read and study chapter 13 & 17. Lecture and class discussion. Design and layout Bedrooms and Bathrooms. Chapter 13 & 17 TEST. TSA meeting.

Week 3     Chapter: 16&18  The Floor Plan & Elevations

Begin drawing Floor Plans with Elevations study. Drawings to be assigned. Read and study chapters 16 & 18. Lecture and class discussion. Chapter 16 & 18 TEST. Drawing to be checked periodically. TSA meeting.

Week 4     Chapter:  5     Room Planning - Sleeping Area

Read and study chapter 5. Lecture and class discussion. Design and layout Bedrooms and Bathrooms. Chapter 5 TEST. Continue drawing Floor Plans with Elevations study. Drawing to be checked periodically. TSA meeting.

Week 5     Chapter:  6     Room Planning - Living Area

Read and study chapter 6. Lecture and class discussion. Design and layout Living Area. Chapter 6 TEST. Continue drawing Floor Plans with Elevations study. Drawing to be checked periodically. TSA meeting.

Week 6     Chapter:  7     Room Planning - Service Area

Read and study chapter 7. Lecture and class discussion. Design and layout Kitchens, Garages & Driveways. Chapter 7 TEST. Continue drawing Floor Plans with Elevations study. TSA meeting.

Week 7-9   Chapter:  30    Presentation Drawings

Read and study chapters 30. Lecture and class discussion. Prepare a presentation for a customer. Chapter 30 TEST. Drawing check. TSA meeting.

Week 7     Chapter:  14-15 Stairs & Fireplace and Chimneys

Read and study chapter 14-15. Lecture and class discussion. Design a complete two story home including garage, driveway, utility room, 2 baths, 3 bedrooms with walk-in closets, den, living room, study, and a kitchen with pantry. However, no wasted space! Drawing check at end of week. Chapter 14-15 TEST. TSA meeting.

Week 8     Chapter:  9-10 Footings, Foundations and Concrete. The Foundation Plan.

Read and study chapters 9-10. Lecture and class discussion. Complete designed floor plan as needed. Develop a foundation plan from the previously designed floor plan.  Chapter 9-10 TEST. Drawing check. TSA meeting.

Week 9     Chapter:  11-12 Sill and Floor Construction. Wall and Ceiling Construction.

Read and study chapters 11-12. Lecture and class discussion. Framing design problems and drawings to be assigned. Chapters 11-12 TEST. Drawings check. TSA meeting.

Week 10    Chapter:  19-20 Residential Electrical and the Electrical Plan    

Read and study chapter 19-20. Lecture and class discussion. Chapter 19-20 TEST. Drawing check. TSA meeting.

Week 11    Chapter:  21-22 Residential Plumbing and the Plumbing Plan

Read and study chapter 21-22. Lecture and class discussion. Chapter 21-22 TEST. Drawing check. TSA meeting.

Week 12    Chapter:  23-25 Residential Climate Control and the Climate Control Plan. Solar Space Heating.

Read and study chapter 23-25. Lecture and class discussion. Design and draw a climate control plan. Chapter 23-25 TEST. Drawing check. TSA meeting.

Week 13    Chapter:  31       Architectural Models

Read and study chapter 31. Lecture and class discussion. Construct an architectural model. Chapter 31 TEST. Model check. TSA meeting.

Week 14    Chapter:  26-27 Nontraditional Structures. New Products and Methods of Construction.

Read and study chapters 26-27. Lecture and class discussion.Chapter 26-27 TEST. Drawing check. TSA meeting.
