GOOD HOPE PRIMARY SCHOOL VISION STATEMENT:
The vision of Good Hope Primary School is to promote students with a strong academic foundation to become lifelong learners and successful citizens.

Important Dates:

Assessments: I am changing days that we take tests so we do not have so many on Fridays. Please notice the change for spelling.
Reading-Thurs.
Spelling/Dictation-Thurs.
Daily Fix-it-Fri.
Language-Fri.

Parents,
I am sending home a passage on Mondays and another on Wednesdays. The students need to read the passage on Mondays and Tuesdays for homework. The students will write a summary of the passage on Wednesdays in class. They will read the next passage on Wednesdays and Thursdays and write a summary on Friday.  This will count for a grade!! I sent home a rubric for how these will be graded.
Starting now we will have a dictation test with our spelling test. I will read a sentence aloud and the students have to write them. I will count off for capitalization, punctuation and spelling. This will count as a spelling grade also.
**Your child’s oral reading grade is _______ for this week.

Reading: We will read Ronald Morgan Goes to Bat and other stories. We will use these stories to learn about realism and fantasy.

Phonics: We will be introducing and learning contractions n’t, ‘s, ‘ll, ‘m.

Language: We will introduce proper  nouns. The students will be able to identify proper nouns.

Math: We will finish working on Chapter 6 and begin Chapter 7. This chapter will be working with subtraction strategies.

Social Sciences: We will be reading books that teach the children about personal responsibility, cooperation, and teamwork.

Homework:
Monday: Write spelling words 3x each. Read passage.
Tuesday: Put spelling words in ABC order. Read story
Ronald Morgan Goes to Bat and read passage.
Wednesday: Write 5 sentences using spelling words. Study for spelling test. Read passage.
Thursday: Read a book. Read passage.
Friday: NO HOMEWORK! Have a great weekend.
Math—I will send home pages for Chapter 7 next week.
