Homework Notes    Our End of Year DIBELS test will be administered starting on 28 APR 08.  Each child will be provided three passages (one minute) and the average number of words read within the specified time will be your childˇ¦s score.  To reach the benchmark or goal your child will have to average reading 40 or more words within the specified time.  Our class goal is 50 wpm.
Spelling homework involves students writing a sentence with each spelling word, writing each spelling word in ABC order, writing each spelling word three times each, and writing a make-believe story using all assigned words.  The story will help prepare your child for the written portion of the weekly grammar test.  They can either use handwriting paper or wide-ruled notebook paper for spelling homework.
Read New Shoes for Sylvia at least twice each night.  This critical practice is necessary to reinforce our weekly vocabulary and essential in the process of developing your child into a fluent reader.  Please take the time to have your child read to you.  Reading homework is a vital element used to strengthen your child oral reading ability.  I've already sent you several passages similar to the passages your child will see on the end of the year DIBELS test.  Please take the time to practice timing your child each night several times.  The more your child reads and practices being timed the better your child will do.
Practice Subjects and Predicates in grammar and Counting Money in math.
Call me at home if you ever have questions or concerns.
