Dear Parents,
Next week we will be reading Turtle’s Race with Beaver. The skills that we will be learning are (r) controlled words. Words that have the er, ur, ir sounds. We will also be reviewing sequence of events and contractions. In reading, one skill that we always work on is comprehension. When reading with your child, please remember to ask who, what, when and why questions. These types of questions help to build comprehension. Reading Logs are looking great. I am so pleased to have children so eager to read. Thank you for having them read at home. All tests will be on regular scheduled days. We will be out Monday; however, they have their words to study over the weekend.
In Math, we are still working on Chapter 8, Regrouping. I have decided to take this chapter slowly. Regrouping is a hard math concept. I want to make sure that all fully understand before moving on. We will not have a test next week in Math. In Grammar, we will begin discussing Singular and Plural nouns. We will have a test on Friday in Grammar. Please check folders daily. Thank you for all that you do! I hope that you all have a nice, long weekend. For those that have scheduled conferences, I look forward to seeing you on Monday at your scheduled time.
