CLASSROOM NEWS
Homeroom
Frontier Days will be this Thursday, August 27th. A notice/sign up sheet was sent home last week. If you have not seen it, please ask your child for it. Each student must pay $1.50, which was due today. The deadline has been extended until Tuesday, Aug. 25. Students may dress in period costumes. Also, please sigh up to send an item on the information sheet. Your help and support will help to make this event a success!!
LITERACY CLASSES
READING
Students should read "Viva New Jersey" this week. The story is in their reading text book. Vocabulary words will also be tested. The test on this selection will be given on Thursday.
LANGUAGE
This week we will be studying dependant and independant clauses.
SPELLING WORDS
Your child should have brought home the spelling words for the next 5 weeks. Challenge words must be added each week on the "Family Times" newsletter. Have your child study the spelling words, so they will be prepared for the test on Thursday.
HOMEWORK
Read the assigned story and study spelling words each week.
FRIDAY BREAK
On Fridays students who have not received 3 demerits for misbehaving, will be rewarded with an extra 20 minute break.
ART
Children should not take supplies home because they may forget to bring them back to school. Please be sure your child has all the items on the supply list, and replenish items as needed during the school year.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Each Tuesday a Weekly Report folder will be sent home which will contain a newsletter with tentative plans for the coming week, a conduct update, an effort grade, and graded papers from the previous week. Please sign and return only papers that are stamped sign & return, sign the folder and return it on Wednesday.
GRADES
If a paper has a numerical grade such as 95, please know that a grade was recorded in the grade book.
SNACK
Please provide your child with a juice and/or snack from home each day. Refreshments may be purchased for 50 cents each, but students must keep up with their own money.
