Thanksgiving Holidays are Nov. 23-27. They return to school on Nov. 3
• The word for the Tier II vocabulary for the 2nd nine weeks will have to come from the story. This week their word needs to be a harder word from Night Letters. Many students are not turning in their word or the incorrect type of word. This is part of their grade.
• Progress reports next week, please sign and return.
• Yearbooks are on sale for $30.00.
They are really having a hard time paying attention and following directions. In 3rd grade we have too much to cover before the SAT and ARMT test for them not to be trying their best. I go over all work but they must listen. You may see lower grades because of this. I ask them several times to put up book or get out a piece of paper and they just keep doing what they were doing before. We do not have the time for them to not do what is asked.

They have homework every night. They are to write it in the homework folder. I have it written on the board and then ask them to write it in the folder.
READING—They are working on Night Letters. They are studying the Academic Vocabulary of cause, effect, story structure, and play. They have a pink sheet in their folder with the grade on Academic Vocabulary 1-8.
Language—They are still working on action verbs, linking verbs (am, is, are, was, were) and the helping verbs has, have, had, and will in the verb phrases. They will work on subject-verb agreement. Singular subject needs a plural verb and a plural subject needs a singular verb.
Spelling –They are working on week 6.They had a-b-c order due on Wednesday and their 1st test. The 10 sentences are due on Friday along with the signed test and those who do not make 100 to retake the test on Friday.
Science—They are working on Chemical test. They must follow directions while we are working on these. They can not work ahead. If they can not follow my directions they will not be able to do the experiments. They will also work on Chapters 10 and 11, on matter and chemical changes. They will have homework from the book. If they check out before the end of the day these cannot be made up.
Social Studies-They are going to Mr. Marks to do Social Studies on Tuesday and Thursday. They are working out of their book.

MATH Nov. 18, 2009
They should know the multiplication facts of 0, 1, 2, 5,& 10’s. We are also working on division. They should have learned the 3’s and 4’s. They need to study these so that they can do division. Start studying the 6’s and 7’s. Once you know the 0-5’s there is only 6x6, 6x7, 6x8, 6x9, 7x7, 7x8, 7x9, 8x8, 9x9, and 10x10 to learn. These need to be learned not just in order. The next 9 weeks the minute math is multiplication. They have homework every night. They need to return it the next day.
They need to listen and follow directions.
They are working on multiplication and division until Christmas. They need to learn ALL their facts. They will also do 2 adn3 digit times 1 digit multiplying, with and without regrouping.

They are still working on addition and subtraction on timed test. This week the test is a grade. After the Christmas Holidays they will have the timed test on multiplication.
