READING
We will learn the letter Tt and its sound /t/. We will also learn words that begin with the /t/ sound. Keep practicing having your child tell you the beginning sounds in words. Our story is Dig Dig Digging. We will review the sight words to & a. Have your child practice reading and spelling the sight words each night. Please keep the ring cards in your child's pencil pouch.
MATH
We will begin to recognize, write, and make sets of numbers. This week we will learn the numbers
3, 4, 5, 6. Please look for number flash cards in your child's pencil pouch this week. Please have your child flash their number cards each night. I will add new numbers each week.
SCIENCE
We will continue our AMSTI unit on trees. This week we will discuss how a tree changes in the fall.
HOMEWORK
Homework will be sent home every Monday in your child's pencil pouch. Please complete the assignment for each night and return on Friday for a prize. There will be extra homework sent home this week. This is optional, however it would be a good idea for your child to complete it.
REMINDERS
Starting every Friday, we will have a "Letter Celebration" to help reinforce the letter we are learning. Thanks to those of you who sent food last week, we had muffins and milk for letter Mm. This week we will have a Teddy Bear Tea Party for letter Tt. We will have tea and toast! Please allow your child to bring his/her favorite teddy bear to school Friday. I will send home a note in your child's folder if I need you to send in an item for the tea party.
We will be taking our first class field trip, Wednesday, October 21 to the Clanton Pumpkin Patch. A field trip form will be sent home soon along with further information. Please return the permission slip and the money in at the same time and send them to school in an enclosed envelope. I would love to have as many chaperones as possible. Please remember that as you consider volunteering as a chaperone, you will be helping to chaperone not only your child, but other students in our class as well. Thank you for your help with this.
Thank you for all the volunteers that are helping each week with cutting, stapling, etc. at home. This is a huge help for our class!
Thanks,
Mrs. Edwards
