                      Literacy Class- April -28-May 5, 2009
Spelling- We are working on the spelling words for the story “A Birthday for Tia.” The spelling test will be Thursday. We will begin listening and reading the next story this Thursday and Friday.
Language- Commas- The worksheet will go home Wednesday. We are working in our old Language books on commas. The test is Thursday.
Reading-. We have read and discussed “A Birthday for Tia.” I have given each child two posted notes of the pages to review for the story test so they won’t have to read the entire story. We have read the story in class several times. The story test will be Thursday.
Reminders: The reason why we have all our tests on Thursday this week because we will have Career Day Friday. It starts at 10:15.  This week and the next week we will be working very hard to complete all the skills and vocabulary words for our End-of- Book Test. My class will take the End- of -Book Test May 7 and May 11. Second Grade Fun Day is May 8. All grades need to be taken by May 13. Honors Day is May 18. It is very important that your child comes to school this week and next. Have a great week.

                                                  Homeroom Class – April 28- May 5, 2009
Science- AMSTI. – We have finished with our soil lessons. We are also reading chapter 12 on Earth and Space in our science book. We read lessons 1 and 2 so far. Please reread lessons 1-4 this week. Next Wednesday, we will have our science test Wednesday on the chapter
Social Studies- none (I took up books)
End- of -School Events
Friday, May 1st is Career Day for second graders at 10:15- 11:00.
Grades are due May 13 and Honor Day is May 18. K- 2 grades Field Day is May 15.
Reminders: Second Grade will have a Fun Day on May 8.  We will not be eating lunch in the lunchroom that day.  Please send the following food item for the party.  We will be eating lunch at 11:15. Parents you are welcome to come and eat.  I have bought all the hot dogs for the class.  If you are unable to send the food item, please let me know by May 6th.
The students will have an early morning snack, lunch and a snack after P.E.  They do not need any snack money because of the food items we will have.

                              Math Class—28- May 5, 2009
Math- We have completed all the math chapters for this school year. We will be working on word problems, AMSTI math, and review all the math skills we learned this year.  All second graders will take STAR MATH test tomorrow.  I will send you the scores next week. Have a great week.
