READING-We are completing our quick introduction of the letters this week with Tt-Zz. We are also working on reading the words: I, am, little, and the. We will start changing classes for Reading on Monday. The children are looking forward to this. Look for a note in your child's folder on Thursday or Friday letting you know the name of your child's Reading teacher.
MATH- This week we are sorting by shape, color and kind. We are also using logical reasoning to determine which "doesn't belong" in a group. Next week we will begin to work on patterns. We will continue to do sorting activities, as it is a skill that will be tested on the report card at a later date. I have a bag of M&Ms for us to sort by color. Let me know if you would like to send some type of food item for us to sort or use for pattern making (and eating!)
SCIENCE- We are learning about trees. We have already gone on our first "tree walk" and used our Science Journals to record what we saw. Soon I will send home a note asking for you to take your child on a "tree walk" and collect leaves to send to the classroom. Watch for a note in the folder. Thanks for your help at home!
