      Social Studies: 4th Six Weeks
            
Topics to be covered during the 4th six weeks:
The Cold War; The Spread of Communism; The 1950s; The 1960s
These topics are covered in chapters 11 and 12 of the social studies text.

Literacy: 4th Six Weeks
Please reread the weekly story with your child every Thursday.  Our story tests are on Fridays.

4th SIX WEEKS AR GOAL- 10 points with an 80% average

Jan. 6-9 "Into the Ice"
skills: cause and effect, main idea, Greek word parts, subject and object pronouns

Jan. 12-16 "The Chimpanzees I Love"
skills: author's purpose; answer questions;  prefixes: dis-, de-, out-, un-; pronouns and antecedents

Jan. 20-23 "Black Frontiers"
skills: cause and effect, prior knowledge, words with ci and ti, possessive pronouns

Jan. 26-30 "Space Cadets"
Skills: draw conclusions, visualize, related words, indefinite and reflexive pronouns

Feb. 2-6  "Inventing the Future"
Skills: author's purpose; monitor and fix up; word endings -ty, -ity, -tion; using who and whom

Spelling:
** Spelling homework is due on Friday***
Thursday: spelling test
