  Spelling and Vocabulary lists have been sent home.

Reading Class

This week will be a review week.  We will take Just In Time Theme 2 Test.  We will continue reading Because of Winn-Dixie this week. I also need some more copies of the books “Mouse and the Motorcycle” and “How to Eat Fried Worms.”  The more copies we have the easier it is for the children.

We will continue working on writing sentences correctly and answering questions using a complete sentence.  Our language focus for the week is contractions.

-Each child needs to bring a white 2” binder. We still have a few children that haven’t brought one in. I need report covers if anyone can send in a pack. Thank you for all the supplies you have sent in.

Please remember it is important to read with your child every night.  We will have a practice Spelling Test on Thursday  If your child makes a 100 they do not have to retake it on Friday. Please study the challenge words and definitions. They write them down on Monday to bring home for studying.

We will continue working on writing sentences correctly and answering questions using a complete sentence.  Our language focus for the week is contractions.

Book Reports

Accelerated Reader

Book reports were sent home last Thursday. They will need to complete the form and a project. This will be counted as 2 grades. They are due no later than April 1st.

This six weeks goal is 12 points.    If you can send in any kind of treats for AR prizes it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to the parents that sent prizes.

WE ALSO NEED SMALL TREATS OR CANDY FOR SPELLING TESTS.

Homework will be sent home in the Tuesday Folder.  I am now including handwriting sheets, too. It is due by Friday.  Homework is now a grade and will be counted as a 0 if not returned on Friday. Please remember it is important to read with your child every night.

Homeroom

We will start a unit on soil and geography.  We will look in-depth at soil and its horizons.  We started making out “dirt shirts” yesterday.  If anyone else is able to send in the requested items on last weeks note (pudding, Oreos, white chocolate chips, etc), we would appreciate it.  Thank you to everyone who has sent in things.

If you can send in gallon size Ziploc bags, it would be great. We use them a lot in our classes.

If any parents have access to making copies for the class let me know!!!!

Please make sure that your child comes to class prepared! This means having pencils, erasers, homework, etc.

It is important every parent participates for their child!

Please practice handwriting at home.  Your child should be able to write neatly with spaces in betweeh their words.

MATH

We will practice grids and directions. Please continue to review money and telling time. They will need this skill for 3rd grade.  Homework will be sent home in the Tuesday folder. It is due by Friday.

To Every Parent

There are little eyes upon you,

 And they are watching night and day;

There are little ears that quickly take

 In every word you say;

There are little hands all eager to do

Everthing you do,

And a little child who's dreaming

 of The day he'll be like you.

You're the little child's idol,

You're the wisest of the wise, In his little mind about you,

No suspicions ever rise;

He believes in you devoutly,

Holds all you say and do;

He will say and do in your way when

He's grown up to be like you.

There's a wide eyed little child who

Believes you're always right,

And his ears are always open and he

Watches day and night;

You are setting an example

Everyday in all you do

For the little child who's waiting

To grow up to be like you.

  I would like to start with a little about myself. This is my sixteenth year teaching. I was a kindergarten teacher at Prattville Kindergarten, and then moved to Daniel Pratt when it opened. I then moved to Pine Level to teach first grade. This is my third year teaching second grade.  I received my bachelor’s degree from Troy State University and I completed my master’s degree in Educational Administration at ASU. I have two wonderful boys, Tyler and Tanner. So I definitely keep a busy schedule. I look forward to helping your child learn, challenge his/her thinking, develop a positive self-image and encourage your child to think of school as a positive component of his world.  If you would like to contact me via email my address is stacyc@autaugacountyschool.org
