Crane & Greene
Class
Feb. 2009
I am pleased to say that Mrs. Greene and I have finished up the AAA evidence. All the students did a great job. Everyone put forth a lot of effort. The 1st week of March the evidence will be packaged and sent off to get our students scores. The results will be in mid July and you will receive your child's scores the 1st of the year.
The other exciting news is that Mrs. Greene was awarded a $500.00 grant from the Central Alabama Coop. The grant is called Bright Ideas. She used the funding to purchase items for task boxes. The boxes are providing skills in the area of packaging, assembling, and job training. These task boxes will be used in Greene's room and will be replacing the extended standard time for learning. You will see a difference on the daily sheet. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Next Monday is an inservice day. Report cards go out at the end of the month. We have a long stretch before the next holiday. Have a great month.

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a restful Holiday and are ready to get back to work. We want to thank everyone for the Christmas treats. The students all did great at the movies and I think the teachers enjoyed it just as much as the students.
The next 2 months will be the final stretch for collecting evidence for the AAA. The evidence will be submitted in March and the results come in July. All the students continue to show great progress with IEP goals and extended standards. Please feel free to drop by and have lunch or just visit.

This year Mrs. Greene and I are team teaching. Mrs. Greene's room is incorporating work stations and more direct teaching to each of the students. The students rotate through the stations and rotate through both rooms. Mrs. Greene has worked very hard to develop a schedule. We are very lucky to have a great support staff. We are all very flexible and work well with each other. It is very sturcted in Mrs. Greene's room and my room provide each of the students some down time. Also, we can provide the daily needs in my classroom. We do the lunches and other basic care.
For the past 3 months this program has been working very successfully.
This year we have a volunteer in Mrs.Greene's room once and week. This is a nice treat and the students enjoy the extar one on one and attention.
We incorporate all the Extended Standards in Mrs.Greene's room and provide more opportunities for their IEP goals in my room. Most of the self help activities take place in my room. The new daily sheet tries to show which standard the student works on during the day and also, indicates bathroom and eating habits for the day. The O.T. and P.T. continue to provide both direct services and lots of ideas for our staff to work on each day.
We are in the process of designing a life skills work station to involve sorting basic common objects such as silver ware, plates, socks. Also, folding activities.
Everything continues to be going well. We welcome visitors and would love for you to come and eat lunch with us.
