Welcome to Miss Susan Schaum's 1st Grade Page!
In addition to weekly homework assignments, this page will contain spelling words for the week, current lists of sight words I expect your children to know by now, as well as, announce any upcoming events. It will also list any important reminders you may have missed in my newsletter.
Week of August 27th to 31st
*I'd like to thank everyone who stopped by our room on Back-To-School Night! I know that after a long day of work, voting, and driving around in the rain, another errand is sometimes a lot to ask, so your attendance was greatly appreciated.
*Friday (August 31st) IS an ice-cream day. If you have not already ordered ice-cream for your child and are interested, please make sure to turn in the money by Friday so that your child may have a sweet treat at lunch.
Homework:
*Please log your child's nightly reading in the reading log inside of his or her Take Home Folder. I ask that you read together 20 minutes a night, but as always, more time is encouraged.
Spelling Words
*Spelling words will appear here when we begin our reading series.
Reminders:
Please make sure to send a nutritious snack with your child. I do not allow children to eat doughnuts and potato chips for snack time. Also, when these items are brought in, it makes those who brought fruit and veggies not want to eat their snacks.

(These are words that should be automatically recognized by this point in the year. I recommend making flashcards with your child and reviewing over them periodically.)
