WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO IN 1ST GRADE!! ~ In our Reading Books, we have read a fable titled The Fox and the Stork.  Please ask your child to tell you what the story is about and what lesson this fable teaches.  We are working on fractions in Math.  Anything that you can find at home to divide into equal parts will help reinforce what we’re learning about at school.  In Language Arts, we have been talking about adjectives (words that describe nouns…ex.  soft, furry, red, nice, tasty, funny, juicy, sour).  Choose something in your house and have your child describe it to you, using adjectives.  Or, you describe the object and have your child use the clues to guess what object you are thinking about.  Using activities that are fun, will help motivate your child and keep them wanting to learn more.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns,  please feel free to call me between 2:00 – 2:45 or email me at baileye@ucps.org.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL
We had a very nice little ice cream social on Valentine’s Day.  Thanks for being so awesome and sending in the money to pay for the supplies.  The students were offered bananas, ice cream, chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, hot fudge, caramel, M&M’s, sprinkles, and whipped cream.  They had Capri Suns to drink.  They had a great time! Thanks, again!!
