Mrs. April's Kindergarten News
September 10th - 14th, 2007

The mission of Luttrell Elementary School is to provide opportunities for all students to achieve adequate yearly progress in an environment which fosters the belief that everyone must be Cooperative, Accountable, Respectful, and Enthusiastic (C.A.R.E.).

Fall Pictures:  Fall pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 18th.  The pictures will be available for purchase and will also be published in the LES Yearbook.  Our pictures will be taken at approximately 8:50 a.m.  You may send an extra change of clothing in your child¡¦s backpack for them to change into after pictures are taken.  Please make sure that they wear their picture outfit to school since pictures will be taken first thing in the morning.

Color Words: We are working on the color word GREEN this week.  Please continue to review red, yellow, and blue at home.  Also remember to have your child wear GREEN on Friday to celebrate.

Homework Books:  Homework Books started this week.  They where sent home in your child¡¦s backpack on Monday and will be due back at school on Friday.  There will be a short assignment on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights.  You may have your child complete the three assignments at your convenience, but please make sure the books are returned each Friday so that the next week¡¦s assignments can be glued in and be ready to send back home on Monday.   Please help to ensure these Homework Book¡¦s are a success.  You do not have to send them back until Friday of each week.

LES Wristbands:  The basketball teams and cheerleading squad is selling LES Spirit Wristbands for $2.00.  If you would like for your child to have one please sent the money in a sealed envelope or Ziploc Bag labeled LES Wristband.  We would appreciate your support!!!!!

Reading Bags:  Reading Bags will begin next week.  See the attached letter for more info.

Class T-Shirts: Class t-shirt orders are due Friday, September 14th.  Purchasing these shirts is not requirement, but it is HIGHLY recommended.  We will be wearing these shirts for Field Day and on the two Field Trips we will be taking.  These shirts are used to help identify our class during these activities.  Ms. Kim and I will be purchasing these shirts also and we would love for our whole class to match on Field Day and Field Trips.

PTO Membership Drive:  The PTO Membership Drive will end Friday, September 14th.  I would like to encourage all parents/guardians to join and take an active role in the PTO.  This is an excellent opportunity to become involved and help make improvements to our school.  Please help us be the school-wide winner for the most class memberships.

Fall Carnival:  The Fall Carnival will be held on Friday, October 26th from 5:00-8:00 at LES.  There will be games, food, and various fun activities throughout the school and gym.  We hope to see you there!!!!

Fall Carnival Basket:  PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!  Our class will be participating in a school-wide fundraiser that will be held during the Fall Carnival.  Each classroom has been asked to ¡§build¡¨ a basket full of themed items to raffle the night of the Fall Carnival.  Our class has been assigned the SPA theme basket.  We would appreciate any help that you would be willing to provide in the completion of our basket.  We need as many items as possible that pertain to our SPA theme.  All materials for the basket are due Monday, September 24th.  Several of you have already donated to our basket. Thanks so much!  If you have any ideas or questions concerning this project please feel free to contact me.

Meet & Greet:  I would like to thank all of the parents and students that attended the Meet & Greet on Monday night.  I hope you enjoyed visitingthe school and our classroom.    If you would like to set-up a conference please feel free to contact me at any time throughout the year.

Book Fair:  The Book Fair will continue through Friday.  All students have had the opportunity to visit the Book Fair and make a Wish List.  If you decide to allow your child to purchase any of the books listed on their Wish List, please be sure to send all money/checks in a sealed envelope or Ziploc bag with the items for purchase clearly indicated.

Food City and Midway IGA Receipts:  Please save and send in your receipts from these two stores so that our school can earn prizes.

Box Tops for Education:  Please remember to help our school by sending in Box Tops for Education points.  We do not want to be the class that is ¡§Walking the Plank.¡¨  Our class turned in 15 points. ƒ¼  Let¡¦s try to make it to ¡§Captain¡¨ for the month of September.  Thanks for your participation in this project.
