               FAFSA Information

Paper FAFSA forms are not delivered to the schools.
Call 1-800-433-3245 to have one mailed to you after Jan. 1, 2010. On-line registration is faster and preferred.

One parent and the student must have PIN numbers to file on-line FAFSA information after Jan. 1, 2010.  There is a link at the top of this page to do that.
You get your PIN numbers any time during the school year.

              MALES--SELECTIVE SERVICE

To receive any kind of state or federal financial aid, males must be registered with the Selective Service. This includes the TN Lottery Scholarships.There is a
link at the top of the page to use.

            FORMAT FOR SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

I will post the newest additions at the top of the list. Also, the appearance of the page will change whenever I add new scholarship opportunities.

            SCHOLARSHIPS 2009-2010

               Oct. 12
Next Step Magazine--register at www.nextStepmag.com.
   There are monthly drawings for $1000.  Also, a    
   chance to win college tuition up to $10,000.  Check
   the website for monthly deadlines.

               Oct. 2

TN Elks--several scholarships available.  Website
   is www.tn.elks.org>Scholarship Programs.
TN Dept. of Commerce and Insurance--write a 1500-
   word essay on specified topic listed at
   www.tn.gov/commerce/securities.  Deadline and
   details are also there.  First place in west TN,
   $2000; second place, $1000 in savings bonds.
   Winners also will receive a plaque at their
   school Awards Program.
Voice of Democracy Audio-Essay--$75 to $1000 on
   local and state level.  Up to $30,000 at national
   level.  Record an original 3-5 minute essay:
   "Does America Still Have Heroes?" Details in the
   Career Center. Deadline: Oct. 26, 2009.
Prudential Spirit of Community--apply at http://
   spirit.prudential.com. When completed, print
   and sign the form, and submit it in the Career
   Center by Nov. 2, 2009.
Washington Crossing Foundation--Deadline: Jan. 15,
   2010.  National scholarships, $1000-$7500.
   See www.gwgf.org. for information.
National Commission for Co-operative Education--
   Co-op scholarships of $6000 at partner
   institutions.  Information, list of partner
   schools, and application are on www.co-op.edu.
   Deadline is Feb. 15, 2010.
