Announcements

Thanksgiving Break (Nov. 23-27)

December fun days:
Thursday, December 17--wear a seasonal hat/cap (examples: Santa hat, reindeer antlers, wooly winter cap, etc.)

Friday, December 18--Mrs. Joy has asked us to inform parents to please have all the kids wear dressy casual, christmas outfits, the color red is preferrable.

Memphis Zoo Trip - April 20

If your child has a medical condition and needs medication you MUST fill out the medical forms and information that was in your child's homework folder.

If your child is sick with fever, they need to be free of fever 24 hours before returning to school.

If your child is riding home a different way, please notify his or her teacher in writing.  

Students will have PE everyday and must wear tennis shoes.

Remember to send recycling items to school with your child.

Ice Cream and Popcorn will be sold on Fridays.

Ice Cream - $1.00        Popcorn - $0.50  

Excuses for the Office
Include child's first and last name
Include the date and reason of the absence and the date the note was written.
Excuses must be sent to school within 24 hours of the child being absent from school.

Spelling words are located on Flashcards.  (Click on flashcards to review spelling words.)

Homework Schedule

If your child does not complete three homework assignments in a nine weeks, he/she will complete these assignments in after school detention.  Your child will stay until homework is completed.

(Check homework folder daily)

Homework is due daily. (example-If homework is assigned on Monday - it needs to be brought to school on Tuesday)  

Monday: Reading practice pages 117-118
         Math Practice Book Page 64/65

Tuesday: Practice book pages 119-120
         Math Practice Book pages 66

Wednesday: adjective hand-out  check take-home folder
           Math Practice Book page 67

Thursday: Practice book pages 123-124
          Math Practice Book page 68

Friday: Have A Great Weekend!!!!

*If I see that students need any additional practice on skills, I may send additional homework home as needed, so please check homework folder daily.*

Any tests that are missed while your child is absent will be made up during the week he/she returns.

Study for TEST
Chapter 9 Data and Graphs
Record the results of a survey in a tally table, read a table, read bar graphs to find information, represent data in a table and in a bar graph, understand data shown in a pictograph, find the range and mode for a set of data, follow directions to locate points on a grid

We will begin Chapter 10-Probability
Predict an event as certain or impossible, describe the likelihood of an event as more likely or less likely, record possible outcomes, describe when outcomes are equally likely

Science Chapter 10 - Energy

vocabulary to know:  energy, heat, fuel, light, reflect, refraction, sound, vibrate, pitch
Check Science folder for the following information: vocabluary-- opaque, transparent, translucent (be able to name examples for each)
identify objects as being artifical light or natural light
facts about rainbows

Social Studies

Unit 3:  Our Past
vocabulary to know:  history, Native Americans, tradition, explorer, colony, colonist, independence, President, slavery, pioneer, immigrant, ancient times, modern times
