We have taken a break from preparing the SAPT videos to train the Oral Communications I students in the MCTV Studio. Thanks to those who continued to work on your videos in the room with Mrs. Godwin while the rest of us were doing the training. We may not get them fnished by the end of September, but we need to get them done as soon as possible. Thanks for working so hard!

This week we should complete planning for the SATP videos. First period is doing the Biology I video, and Fifth period is doing the English II, Algebra I, and U.S. History videos. We will probably use the first half or two-thirds of each class period to work on the SATP videos and the second half or last third of each class to complete videos for MCTV. If you are absent, you should be able to click on the date on the calendar to the right to see the classwork and homework assignments for that day. GOOD LUCK!!!

Each week, in addition to grades for finished video projects, you will receive a grade for participation in video planning and for work on video preparation. I will be observing who is working on projects for this class and who is doing math homework!
Our first big projects for this semester will the the 15-20 minute Subject Area Testing videos for Test Prep Homeroom--one each on English II, Algebra I, Biology I, and U.S. History. These will be completed in assigned groups and will count as three major test grades. The Broadcast Jouirnalism class has chosen to do the Biology video, so the Oral Communications II class will do the other three. We need to complete these projects during the first term, if possibls.
We will also, of course, work on MCTV videos on an ongoing basis--openers, random facts, Teacher Features, What's Happening, and Street Talk.
I hope you enjoy what we are doing--I know I do!!!

It's time to start another year, and I am really excited, lthough the summer never seems long enough!
We have some new video editing software already installed on the classroom computers, so I hope we will learn some new stuff and make MCTV even more creative and fun.
We are going on the air the first day of school, so if you could PLEASE come Thursday and Friday (especially FRIDAY), I would REALLY appreciate it. Remind me to pass around the August sign-up calendar the first day of class so we can get the all of that covered.
The first day of class you will complete a Student Information sheet in class, and you will receive a Parent Survey form to take home or your parents to fill out. This form will be due at our second class meeting. In case you lose yours, I am attaching it to the "Attachments" section below; just click on it to open and print.
Parents and students can email me through this website by clicking on the "click here to send email to the teacher" link at the top of the page OR at lauraisbell@ymail.com. (This is a NEW email address.) It is MUCH easier to contact me through email than through the school voicemail system; if you want me to call, just email me your name and number, and I will call as soon as I can after school is over that day.
