Welcome to Madison Central and the PE department.We are starting with some new ideas suggested by the state department. Because our state is #1 in teen obesity we are implementing a longer walking program. Every day we will stretch, exercise and then walk a minimum of 20 minutes. After our walk we will go into our planned activity. Grades will be based on participation. Each day the student will get a grade. If they do all their activities they will receive a 100. If they do not participate they receive a 0. The only exception for not participating is a doctors excuse.
We will begin performing the PRESIDENTIAL FITNESS TEST, this includes the pull-ups, shuttle run, push-ups, sit-ups, jumping rope, and a 1 mile walk/jog.
Aug. 7 and 8: Orientation, handouts, and rules.
Aug. 11-15: Stretch, perform pull-ups, 1 minute timed sit-ups, and a timed 1 mile.
Walk 25 minutes, timed shuttle run, push-ups, and 1 minute timed jumpropes.

Play BASKETBALL individually and on teams.

VOLLEYBALL USING A BEACH BALL

Rules of the game:

to a girl is the only way to get a first down.
* 1 point is given to the team that causes the
turnover.
* 7 points when a team scores a touchdown.
Oct.20- Nov.14
* Stretch/ Walk 25 minutes
* KICK BALL games; play for 15 minutes each game
with the home team finishing last kick.
* If time is remaining after all teams have played,
remainder of the time will be "free time".
November 24-28 HAPPY THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS!!!
November 26-30
* Stretch/ Walk 25 minutes
* Kick ball games; play for 15 minutes each game
with the home team finishing last kick.
* If time is remaining after all teams have played,
remainder of the time will be "free time".
December 3-7
* Stretch/ Walk 25 minutes
We will be using jumpropes in a number of ways.
Some of the activities involved:
* Jumping through the rope as it's being turned by
the coaches.
* Running in and then jumping 5 times and running
out.
* The rope will be used to have the students run
and jump over at different levels and skills.
* The rope will be used for students to limbo under.
All the activities keep the kids involved and will help increase their range of motion(flexibility).
The "jumping on the move" skills will help them with coordination.
