Welcome to English IV for the 2008-2009 school year. I am thrilled to have each of you in my class, and I know this will be both a rewarding and a successful year. My hope is that not only will you successfully complete the course, but that you will perform to the best of your ability. With college merely a few months away, maintaining a high grade-point average is essential. Let me know if you have any questions about what will be offered in this class or about what will be expected. I wish each of you a rewarding and memorable year.
Throughout the year, you will be responsible for keeping up with your notes, classwork, assignments, and homework. For your convenience, information on classroom activities, homework, short and long-range assignments, and tests will be posted on schoolnotes. It is your responsibility to be present each day and to check schoolnotes before each class meeting to be certain you are up to date and have not forgotten something essential to class. If you are absent, schoolnotes is a valuable tool to keep you caught up and to help you know what assignments and tests you will need to complete in a timely manner according to the MC Handbook. Make schoolnotes a part of your everyday assignment.
Class Rules
1. Bring all supplies to class each day.
2. Take thorough notes.
3. Check Schoolnotes for assignments before each class.
4. Copy missed notes immediately from a classmate if
you are absent.
5. Make up all tests, quizzes, compositions, homework,
and classwork. See the student handbook for
approved make-up rules.
6. Be on time for class. Each tardy disturbs class.
The third tardy will cause you to have an absence,
and the fourth will cause you to have a write up.
See the handbook for specific rules and procedures.
7. Do not be absent from class without an acceptable
reason. Too many absences will cause you to for-
feit the course. With each absence, you miss import-
ant explanations and classwork. See the handbook
for procedures and complications due to absences.
8. Do not sleep or put your head down in class. Adjust
your schedule to allow for enough sleep so that you
can benefit from time in class.
9. Do not drink or eat in class.
10.Be repectful of me and of your classmates at all
times.
11.Take pride in what you accomplish in English this
year.
