Hagan Uds. Ahora #1: List ten reasons to learn a foreigh language.

Classwork: The students will fill out information sheets. Then they will learn their ABC's in Spanish. We will discuss the pronunciations and practice saying vocabulary words in Spanish. Next they will write a paragraph about themselves and introduce themselves to the class ("El Primer Dia de la Clase" handout.)

Homework: Have parents complete the information sheets and bring them back to class on Monday, August 11 for a grade. Study vocabulary words from the handout "Sustantivos de la Clase."

2. The students will write a paragraph using the do-now as a guide.
3. The students will introduce themselves to the class by reading their paragraphs out loud.

5. If time allows, we will sing a song in Spanish using the alphabet.

Homework: Read and study pages 2 through 7 in your textbook.

6. We will listen to audtiotapes and practice counting in Spanish.

2. We will review for the quiz on vocabulary concerning the days of the week, months of the year, and counting from 1 to 30.
3. The class will take an oral quiz where they come up and say the vocabulary words to me in spanish.
4. The rest of the class will work on worksheets pertaining to the words they need to know on the quiz.

Homework: Study for the vocabulary quiz (if needed) and complete worksheets on the vocabulary words from Unidad 1 as well as the handouts on days of the week, months of the year, and numbers.

I will take up all of the do-nows 1 through 10. Then we will begin taking the oral quiz in Spanish. Students will come up to my desk one at a time and recite the answers to me in Spanish. Students at their desks will be working on worksheets to reinforce the information that is on the quiz.

Homework: Begin studying for the Unit 1 test. Students who did not get to do their oral quiz today will need to also review for the oral quiz questions as well.

NOTE: All 10 grade students will be taking the Plan Test during 1st and 2nd blocks.(November 7.) We will be attending a Veteran's Day Program on November 8 from 11:00 to 12:00.

Do Now #2: Handouts on contractions.

Classwork: If the class did not have time to do the guided reading last class period, they will finish it today. Then the class will work on handouts on ser and estar.(if time allows).

Homework: Write a sentence in Spanish using all the verbs on pages 134 and 135 (vocabulario practico) in Spanish. You must write complete sentences and you must conjugate the verbs so that they agree with the subject. In addition, we will be having a vocabulary quiz on Unit 4 on November 9 (B day) and November 12 (A day).

Classwork: We will review for the Unit 4 vocab quiz and then take the quiz. Next we will discuss the personal A, al y del, the verb estar, the verb ir, the uses of ser and estar, the present progressive tense, and direct object pronouns (if time allows) as well as do some of the activities in the textbook that accompany these topics. Lastly we will review for the Unit 4 test.

Classwork: The class will take a test on Unit 4 and then they will be working on a craft for "El Día de Acción de Gracias." In addition, we will do some more handouts about "El Día de Acción de Gracias."

Do Now #6: Verb Conjugations--er verbs.

Classwork: I will check the homework and we will go over the correct answers. Then we will review how to conjugate -er and -ir verbs. Then we will learn about the possessive adjectives, vocabulary words for "La Familia," word order in Spanish expressions, how to conjugate the verb "hacer," vocabulary words for "Los Animales Domesticos," how to conjugate the verb "decir," the ordinal numbers in Spanish, vocabulary words for "La Casa," review the direct object pronouns, how to conjugate the verb "dar," and learn about the verbs that use indirect objects (if time allows). The class will be filling in the Guided Reading for Unit 5 as we discuss this information.

Classwork:  I will check the homework and we will go over the correct answers. Then we will begin presenting the extra-credit projects to the class. If nobody chooses to do the extra credit, then we will continue with our discussion on environmental awareness issues and the class will work on handouts dealing with the environment. Then we will review for the 9-weeks test in classes that will be having the 9-weeks test the next class meeting. (5th and 7th blocks.)

Homework: Study for the 9-weeks test.

We will be having 9-weeks test during the days of March 10 through Mardh 13. The 9-weeks test schedule is as follows:
