Hagan Uds. Ahora #1: Students will respond to a series of question in Spanish using the handout "El Primer Dia de la Clase."

Classwork: The students will complete information sheets and read the handouts on the class rules. Then we will discuss pages from the student handbook. Afterwards the students will write a a paragraph about themselves using a handout as a guide.Then the students will read the paragraphs out loud to the class.

Homework: Have parents complete information sheets for a grade. The sheets must be returned on Monday, August 11 or Tuesday, August 12. Also complete the handout "Los Alimentos."

4. If time allows, the class will learn about "El Grito de Delores" and Mexican Independence Day that is celebrated every year on September 16th by reading a handoutand watching a video on Mexican Independence Day.

Classwork: We will go over the vocabulary words one more time and then the class will take the vocabulary quiz. Afterwards, we will do a review of reflexive verbs and the class will do some exercises pertaining to reflexive verbs. If needed, we will complete the tape activity sheets.

Classwork: I will check the homework and we will go over the correct answers. Afterwards, we will discuss verbs that are irregular in the 1st person and do some worksheets pertaining to these verbs. Then we will

Classwork: I will check the homework and we will go over the correct answers. Then we will review ordinal numbers, indefinite adjectives, possesssive adjectives (unstressed and stressed), possessive pronouns, and the preterite tense.

Homework: Handout on "el automóvil" and study for Unit 4 vocabulary quiz.

Classwork: I will check the homework and we will go over the correct answers.Then the class will take the Unit 4 vocabulary quiz. Afterwards we will discuss the "diminutive -ito" (pg. 163), continue reviewing the preterite tense, al + infinitivo (p. 170), and el preterito + hace (pg. 178) as well as do activities from the textbook to reinforce all of these subjects.
Then we will review for the vocabulary quiz on Unit 4 that will be the next class period.

Classwork:We will take a test on Unit 4.Then the class will be working on a craft for "El Día de Acción de Gracias." Afterwards, if time allows the class will work on handouts concerning "El Día de Acción de Gracias."

Homework: If needed, finish handouts and craft concerning "El Día de Acción de Gracias" and do vocabulary worksheet from Unit 5.

Do Now #6: Conjugations--verbs in the imperfect tense.

Classwork: I will check the homework and we will go over the correct answers. Then we will begin discussing the important grammatical rules in Unit 5: How to form negative constructions, the neuter pronoun lo + masculine adjectives, the use of the expression lo que, how to conjugate in the imperfect tense, when to use the imperfect tense vs. when to use the preterite tense, and the three irregular verbs in the imperfect tense--ir, ser, and ver. The class will complete the guided reading as we are discussing these important facts from Unit 5.

Homework: Study Guide for Unit 5 vocabulary quiz.

Afterwards we will listen to the audiotapes from Unidad 6 and the class will work on their listening comprehension skills by completing the tape activity sheets.

Classwork: I will check the guided readings and we will go over the correct answers. Then we will begin translate and answer questions on pages 316 to 321 in the textbook. If time allows, we will watch a United Streaming Video on Los Paises Hispanos de la America del Sur.

Homework: Finish packet on the conditional tense.

Classwork:  I will take up the packets on the future tense and we will go over the correct answers. Then the class will have time to work on their project--"Mi Casa en el Futuro!!!" If you are not prepared to work on your project and you do not have your materials with you, then you will work on additional packets on the future and conditional tenses.

Classwork: The class will work on handouts on "El Dia de los Enamorados." We will complete a project about this day and the class will be able to work on their projects some more if they finish their "El Dia de Los Enamorados" project early.

Homework: Work on project!!! We will begin presenting them in class on Monday--February 11th!!!

PROYECTOS ARE DUE TODAY--"MI CASA EN EL FUTURO."

Classwork: We will begin presenting project to the class. I will take volunteers and after that I will randomly call on students to present projects. Everyone must be ready to present today!!!

Do Now #3: Handout on the conditional tense.

Classwork: We will review for the Unit 7 test that will be next time. In addition, we will continue with out discussion on whent to use por and para and the class will watch a powerpoint demonstration on the differences between the two prepositions. If needed we will do some worksheets for reinforcement on the uses of por and para.

Homework:  Study for the test on Unit 7 that will be next class meeting.

Do Now #4: Handout on por and para.

Classwork: We will do a quick review and then the class will take the test on Unit 7. After the test, we will go over the vocabulary words that have to do with emotions and expressions of time. Then we will watch some powerpoint demonstrations that have to do with what the class will need to know for the 9-weeks test.
Then we will discuss the Vista section in the textbook---pages 315 to 327 "La American del Sur" and watch a videotape on South American counries that speak Spanish.

Homework: Translate into English page 322 in textbook--"Una ciudad perdida y encontrada."

Do Now #5: Map of South American countries.

Classwork: We will go over the test on Unit 7 and discuss the correct answers. Then we will review for the vocabulary quiz on emotions and expressions of time which will be the next class meeting. In addition, I will take up the homework for February 28th--the translation from page 325 in your textbook. Then we will go over the study guide for the 9-weeks test. Next we will go over the correct answers to the homework. If time allows, we will work on handouts for Ecotech Day.

Do Now #9 and #10: Handouts on Ecotech Day. We will do two do-nows today since 9-weeks test start next week.

Classwork: We will review for the 9-weeks test. Then the class will present their extra-credit projects on the environment to the class. If no one does the projects, we will work on handouts dealing with the environment in Spanish.

Homework: Study for the 9-weeks test!!!

We will be having 9-weeks test during the days of March 10 through March 13. The 9-weeks test schedule is as follows:

March 10th--5th and 7th blocks
March 11th--1st and 3rd blocks
March 12th--6th and 8th blocks
March 13th--2nd and 4th blocks

Your 9-weeks test in Spanish II will be on Tuesday.
