WELCOME TO COACH SHRAMEK'S PE CLASS

PE RULES:

1.  Do what Coach Shramek tells you to do, the way he tells you to do it, when he tells you to do it.

2.  Do what Coach Suggett tells you to do, the way she tells you to do it, when she tells you to do it.

Physical Education class is intended to help educate the student on the importance of maintaining physical fitness throughout life.  Physical fitness is defined as possessing the necessary energy to succissfully complete daily routine tasks and have the reserve energy to participate in personal activities.  In this class the student will be required to participate in various individual and team activities that can help students to build and maintain a high level of physical fitness.

* All student handbook rules and procedures apply to PE class.
* Tardies will be recorded, reported and referred:  4th tardy results in a write-up/referral.
* Attendance requirements will also be enforced: Semester course, 7 absences equals failure.
Year course, 12 absences equals failure.
* Students will be given time at the beginning of the period to use the restroom and change clothes after roll is called.
* Students are not allowed in the coaches office at any time.
* Students are required to participate in all PE activities throughout the year.  Students can loose up to 3 points per day due to non-participation.'
* Students who are physically unable to participate due to illness or injury must bring a note from home on the day in question in order to be excused from participation.
* No student is allowed to leave the gym without permission at any time.
* Students must bring a signed and dated note from another teacher in order to leave the gym.  We will not issue any passes for students to leave the gym, EVER!!
* No food or drinks are allowed in the gym during class periods.
* Cell phones, CD Players ETC... will be confiscated with no questions asked.
* All student handbook rules and procedured apply and will be enforced at all times all year long.

***FIRST UNIT***

August 13, 2007 we will begin PE with a discussion of all rules and regulations for the course and hand out each student a syllabus with all needed materials.  Presidential Physical Fitness Testing will be our first active unit of the year.  This unit will last approximately 4 weeks.  Pull-ups, Sit-ups, Push-ups, Shuttle Run, Mile Run & Jump Rope etc.. will all be tested twice and each student will be told and recognized if they qualify for any presidential physical fitness awards.
We will also have a 25 minute plus "Walk Mississippi" time each day to help promote excersice and better health.  Walking will happen and be mandatory everyday all year long inside the gym or outside on the Track.

***SECOND UNIT***

FLAG FOOTBALL:  September 3 through September 28.
Explanation of Football Rules and Safety.
Demonstrations of proper techniques.
Each Class will be divided into even Co-ed teams and we will begin free play competition between the teams.  The unit will end with a 6 team double elimination tournament.
Again, we will excercise/Stretch & have our 25 minute "Walk Mississippi" Time each day.

***THIRD UNIT****

VOLLEYBALL:  October 1 through October 19.
Explanation of Volleyball Rules, techniques and Safety.
Each Class will be divided into 6 Co-ed teams and we will begin free play competition between the teams.
The Unit will end with a Round Robin Tounament and a Champion Crowned based on best overall record. Each game is timed at 15 minutes.
Excercise/Stretch & "Walk Mississippi" Time each day.

***FOURTH UNIT****

KICKBALL:  October 23 through November 23
Explanation of Rules, techniques and Kickball Safety.
We will begin the unit with Free Play pick-up games.  After a week of free play, we will pick six coed teams and begin a double elimination kickball tournament.
  Each game is timed.   The Semi Finals and the Finals will end the unit.
Excercise/Stretch & "Walk Mississippi" Time each day.

***FIFTH UNIT***

MULTI SPORTS REVIEW:  November 26 through December 23
Each day we will play a different sport that we have covered throughout the semester; Walk Mississippi, Volley Ball, Kickball and Football. We will pick teams daily and play the sport of the day. This will take us through the end of the semester.

***SECOND SEMESTER - 1st UNIT***

Presidential Physical Fitness Re-Testing.  Pull-ups, Sit-ups, Push-ups, Mile Run, Shuttle Run, Jump Rope and Flexibility Testing.  During this unit we will also be playing kickball in the gym after each test.  The class will be split up into 4 co-ed teams and we will play a round robin tournament culminating in a championship game.  Unit will last approximately 4 weeks.
We will also have a 20 minute plus "Walk Mississippi" time each day to help promote excersice and better health.  Walking will happen and be mandatory everyday all year long inside the gym or outside on the Track.

*** SECOND SEMESTER - 2nd UNIT***

We will also begin a Strength and Conditioning unit by using the weight-room for weight training and the gym floor for cardio training and ab work.  This unit will last approximately 6 weeks depending on interest and effort. Boys will be assigned to Coach Shramek & the ladies will be assigned to Coach Suggett.  The first half of the class either the boys or girls will be in the weight-room working out with weights and the other group will be in the gym working cardio and abs.  At the half way point the two groups will switch.  If interest level and effort is high, we may stay with this unit for a longer period of time.
Excercise/Stretch & "Walk Mississippi" Time each day.

*** SECOND SEMESTER - 3rd UNIT ***

Indoor Basketball, Kickball,Volleyball & Flag Football week to week to add variety to the course.  Each week we will pick a different activity, pick teams and play games.
Excercise/Stretch & "Walk Mississippi" Time each day.


*** SECOND SEMESTER - 4th UNIT ***

We will begin outdoor activities as weather permits.  Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee & Kickball.  On nice days we will walk the track for 20 minutes then begin activities.  If students do not wish to play one of the outdoor activities, they can walk the track.
On bad weather days we will be in the gym multi tasking with Volleyball, Flag Football, Basketball & Frisbee.  This will take us through the end of the year.
Excercise/Stretch & "Walk Mississippi" Time each day.
