I apologize for being so late in updating this site. In our regular classes, we are currently working on reading comprehension skills involving inference. We have recently worked on summary, precis, explication, and text structures. The next unit will involve reading for word choice that affects the author's purpose.
We will have a test on inference and word choice sometime next week.
For honors English, I have assigned the same reading comprehension skills activities as outside reading. In class, we are currently reading Julius Caesar. Students will take a test on the first two acts this Wednesday. Act III and Act IV vocabulary will be due this Friday. We will finish the play on Monday, and the Act V vocabulary will be due on Wednesday. Wednesday will write an essay. A test on the last three acts will be Friday, March 6. This is the same day the newspaper story for Julius Caesar is due.
As you can tell from the important dates below, we will be writing the state essay the week we come back from Spring Break. I feel the students are ready for the test. To be confident, we will continue to practice writing once a week.
IMPORTANT DATES
FRIDAY, MAR. 6--JULIUS CAESAR NEWSPAPER STORY (HONORS)
THURSDAY, MAR. 26--STATE ESSAY
FRIDAY, MAY 1ST--STATE MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
Thanks,
Mary Porter
