Economics
2007-2008

Textbook:        Economics-Principles in Action; Arthur O’Sullivan and Steven Sheffrin; Prentice Hall,                 2007 edition        
            There will be numerous, additional resources used throughout the course of study.
Course Description:    This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of:
            1.  The basic economic concepts.
            2.  The organization of production, distribution and consumption of goods and services.
            3.  Global connections, conflicts and geographic interdependence.
            4.  How values and beliefs influence economic decisions in different societies.
            5.  How to make sound economic decisions in the future.
            6.  The application and interpretation of social studies tools.

                Proper Attitude!!
                Willingness to work and learn!!
Grading:            Within each unit there will be:
                2-5 daily grades ( classroom work, homework, quizzes ,etc.)
                1 Class Participation Grade
                Bell Work- (will count towards class participation and daily grades)
                1 Test Grade                
                Within the 9 weeks:
                2 Student Projects ( 1 individual, 1 group project)
                    Weekly Newspaper Article and summary
                    Weekly Stock Reports
                    Economic Question Project                
                Each student is responsible for a service learning project.  A packet of
                information will be given to students at the beginning of class.(All projects
                must be approved by the SLP committee before proceeding)
Makeup Work:        It is the responsibility of the student to make up any missed work or assignments
                due to excused absences.  A student will have one week to makeup any missed
                work due to an excused absence.
Rules and Expectations:    1.  Be on time (know the tardy Policy)
                2.  Be prepared
                3.  Be respectful.
                4.  Be responsible and accountable.
                5.  Plagiarism- Its stealing
Consequences of Not Following the Rules
                Minor
                1st    Warning     
                2nd    Teacher issued punishment, Parent notified
                3rd     Referral, Parent notified
                Major
                1st     Sent to Principal
