CLASSROOM RULES and REGULATIONS

The rules and regulations of Ms. Felder’s classroom are fairly simple and straightforward:

1 – Be in your seat and ready to work when class begins.  “Being ready” includes having all necessary materials with you!

2 – Do not talk when Ms. Felder or another student is talking.  Raise your hand if you have a question or comment to add to the class.

3 – No food or drink in the classroom (unless approved by Ms. Felder)

4 – the classroom is NOT the place to apply make-up, perfume, lotion, nail polish, to comb your hair, etc.

5 – disrespect toward your teacher, your classmates, or school property will not be tolerated.  You’ve made it to junior high – you know how to behave in school.

6 – any other rules that Ms. Felder decides are necessary

THE BASICS:  READING, WRITING, AND SPELLING

Reading will play a major role in this class.  You will be expected to read the assignments when given.  We will read aloud in class at times.  Learning to read well comes through practice.  Reading – silently or aloud – is not optional.

Writing is a major form of human communication.  It is an art that must be mastered by every student.  Writing will play a major role in this class.  You will be expected to write frequently in your lab notebook, to take notes in class, to record observations, define vocabulary words, answer questions, etc.  Again, learning to write well is achieved through practice.  The one prevailing rule when it comes to writing is this:  Write legibly!  If Ms. Felder cannot read it, it will be considered as an incorrect answer or incomplete project.  Writing is a waste of time if no one can read what you have written.

    NOTE:  Written assignments (homework, tests,
               lab notebook work, classwork, etc.)
will be accepted in standard, #2 pencil
(not colored pencil), BLUE or BLACK ink
only. Writings/work done in any other
color of pencil or ink will not be
               accepted.  Any exception to this
standard must be cleared with Ms.
Felder BEFORE the work is submitted.

Spelling correctly is invaluable to the art of communication.  Science strives for organization and understanding:  this cannot be achieved with improper communication that results from incorrectly spelled words. Any and all misspelled words submitted in ANY writings (tests, lab notebooks, research papers, reports, class work, homework, etc.) will result in a deduction of one point ( -1 point) for EACH misspelled word.

CONTACTING YOUR TEACHER
