Grammar:
4th Grade
We are comparing adjectives. We will have a quiz on comparison of adjectives on Friday.
5th Grade
We've been analyzing sentences with action verbs and with linking verbs. Today we analyzed mixed sentences. I can't wait to see how they did.
6th Grade
We've been diagramming sentences with action verbs and with linking verbs. We will be studying the pricipal parts of the verb and tenses.
Continue work on independent study:
diagramming and verbals.
Biology:
We loved the lab work. All three levels learned how to type blood. Anatomy is due on January 30th.
Religion:
6th year students will be learning about the old testament. Earlier in the year we learned the books of the old and new testaments. We are now going to learn a little of what is contained in the old testament.
5th year students take an ACRE test in the spring about their knowledge of religion and attitudes. This is an anonymous test which assesses the school's teaching. We will be reviewing some concepts in Religion class so that the chidren are refreshed in their knowledge.

Requirements for Research Paper:
• Fifth and Sixth year students’ research papers will be 6-9 pages long, if handwritten. If typed, they will be 4-7 pages long.
• Fourth year students’ research papers will be 5-8 pages long, if handwritten. If typed, they will be 3-6 pages long.
• All reports:
1) Will include a title page.
2) Will be double-spaced and will use a font size of 12.
3) Will include a bibliography with at least four sources; no more than one of these four may be an Internet source.
Participation in the judging of Interest Fair is encouraged, but optional. If the student participates the following are required:
• 3-Dimensional Project
• 2-3 free standing posters (Tri-fold board counts as 3 posters)

Children are expected to follow this schedule of when to turn in their progress.
December 9-19 Choose your topic. Make sure there are at least 3-5 books on your topic, as well as other sources. Be sure that you can read and understand them.
December 12 Inform your mentor of your topic.
December 12-19 Begin reading and taking notes. Ask or write questions as you read.
December 19 Turn in your initial bibliography.
Dec. 19-Jan. 5 Continue reading and taking notes. Begin a simple outline. Have at least one idea for what your 3D project might be.
January 5 Turn in your simple outline, notes, 3D project ideas, and bibliography (so far) to your mentor.
January 5-20 Continue:
- Reading (add any new sources to your bibliography)
- Taking notes
- Asking/writing questions
- Revising outline
Begin:
- Writing first draft
January 20 Show all work (so far) to mentor.
January 23 Submit sketch and description for poster and 3-D project. Continue working on paper.
February 2 Turn in notes, outline, and completed draft.
February 2-20 Finish poster and 3-D project. Prepare oral presentation.
February 23 Turn in final paper.
February 26 Dress appropriately
Bring posters, 3-D project, and note cards (if needed) to school
Leave extra copies of research paper at home
