MONDAY- Complete an activity on using models to subtract mixed numbers. Explain how to rename mixed numbers to subtract them. Homework- Estimation and Adding/Subtracting Fractions wkst.
TUESDAY- Go over homework from yesterday. Review information over estimation, and adding and subtracting fractions to prepare for tomorrow's quiz. Homework- Study for quiz.
WEDNESDAY- Today the students will be taking a quiz over estimation and adding and subtracting fractions & mixed numbers. No homework.
THURSDAY- NO SCHOOL- Thanksgiving Break
FRIDAY- NO SCHOOL- Thanksgiving Break
Week of Nov. 16, 2009
MONDAY- Go over percent questions from Friday. Do OAT percent questions in groups of 3 and then go over them together. Homework- Finish OAT percent questions from today if not finished during class.
TUESDAY- Go over homework from yesterday. Give a quiz today on how to find the percent of a number using real-life examples. No homework.
WEDNESDAY- Discuss yesterday's quiz. Teach students how to estimate/round fractions and decimals. Homework- Handout 6.1/Coach book pg. 87.
THURSDAY- Teach students how to add and subtract fractions with common denominators and fractions with different denominators. Homework- Handout 6.3.
FRIDAY- Go over information about adding and subtracting mixed numbers. Use Marcy Cook math tile boards to reinforce concepts dealing with fractions, percents and decimals. No homework.
