As I hope all of you are, I look forward to beginning a new school year filled with new faces, new learning experiences as well as new challenges!

I am introducing you to my web page which I may encourage you to use as a supplement to further aid in classroom discussions.
Here, I will post any daily activities and/or assignments as well as sometimes classroom discussion notes.  We are also able to communicate through e-mail.  Simply click on the "Click here to send an e-mail" located just above this web page.  Another neat feature available is to sign up to receive an e-mail alert notifying you that I have made changes or added to this web page!  This is a great feature to remind you of this resource!

Please remember . . . this web page is only one of your many Science resources used in learning.  It is important to utilize your teacher, your textbook, the internet, classroom activities, classroom notes, and most of all, classroom discussion!

I look forward to WORKING TOGETHER throughout this school year!  It is TOGETHER that WE can help YOU to be SUCCESSFUL!

Mrs. Lippert

Our first couple days of getting back into school routine have been a SUCCESS…Now its time to work…

. . . HOMEWORK ALERT!!! . . .
Thursday,August 30-...Due on Friday, August 31...Bring in 10-15 SMALL & DIFFERENT objects in a SMALL (lunch-sized ) bag!!  Those of you who forget to do this will sign your card and will also need to see me for instructions on how to make this up.  If absent, please see me as well...
******Thursday, August 30 is also PICTURE DAY!*********

Friday, August 31...Due Tuesday,September 4...Find a "real life" picture in a magazine OR you may choose to use a photo (or even take a wonderful action photo this weekend, if you have a way of getting this printed for Tuesday's due date).  Write as many OBSERVATIONS (including DETAILS!) about this picture as you can.  Please be sure to include and label both Quantitative and Qualitative observations.  Write one or more INFERENCES about your picture.  Last, write a PREDICTION (what might happen next in your picture).  This is a graded assignment.  Please make this NEAT!  Neatly written OR even typed!  Attach the picture to the paper if you are able to (wouldn't want to ruin a good photo of course).
Have a G R E A T  L O N G weekend!!!

HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tuesday, September 4...We began talking about Scientific Inquiry and the 6 steps of...The students were put into groups of 3 and were asked to propose a scientific question that can be proven through testing and observation.  Their homework tonight is to ask (at least 10-15, but try to go beyond this amount)people your question and ask them to sign their names to record their responses.  Bring this recorded data to class TOMORROW (Wednesday) to compile results with your group!  This is simply asking others' what they believe to be the outcome of your question (their opinion).  You are NOT actually testing your scientific question yet!

This entire project will be due on Tuesday, September 11th...Our first quiz covering Sections 1 & 2 will be on Friday!

**Also remember to turn in "picture observation" homework from over the weekend if you were asked to re-do this or if you never completed this!

Wednesday, September 5...You should have been reading section 2 (steps to Scientific Inquiry) with your groups and taking notes into your Science Log!  I hope that you are taking good/thorough notes because you will have a quiz Friday (as I have warned days before in class)over sections 1 and 2. Study...Study!!

Friday, September 7...Carry out your experiment over the weekend!  Meet with your group if at all possible! It is important to to do this together so that you may conduct your experiment and to also record your observations and results.  If you are unable to meet with your group, you may want to have his/her phone number handy to do the experiment seperately.  If you do this in this way, remember you have to do it in the EXACT same way using EXACTLY the same kinds of materials!!!!
**Bring in these results to class on Monday,
September 10th!**

Monday, September 10...Be prepared to do step 6 tomorrow...Communicate to the class your results...you will want to compile your data/results into a graph or poster to show.  Please be ready to do more than stand in front of the class and look at each other!  Prepare a short presentation!
**You will need to hand in on Tues a neatly written or typed copy of the 6 steps of Scientific Inquiry along with information about each step according to your experiment, your neatly prepared visual (chart/graph) and each of your signatures!
**Please make sure that your typed steps are thorough and complete (DETAILS and SENTENCES)!!

********I handed out a worksheet on VARIABLES after the quiz that we took today (Friday)...This will be due on Monday!*********

*****PARENTS*****
I look forward to seeing you/meeting you at Openhouse (tomorrow)Tuesday, Sept. 11th 6:30-8!!!!!

Monday, September...We used today as a catch-up day...Tests...Study Guide...Worksheets...Presentations.  Those students who were all caught up began Buckle Down pages 34-42 & 45-46.  Students are to read these pages, take notes, write definitions and answer all questions!

I am still looking for donations of string, tape, straws and newspaper for (prob.) Wednesday's class!

Wednesday, September 26th...Students are still working hard to finish up Buckle Down Book pages!
These should be finished up by the end of class today, if not, students are to sign out a book at the end of the day for Homework.  I would like to go over these pages tomorrow during class and begin building our bridges. All due Tomorrow!

Thursday, October 4th...Today we reviewed the notes from yesterday...We talked about how we measure motion...by calculating the SPEED of objects!  Tonight's homework is a practice sheet on calculating speed and then coming up with their own story problems calculating speed.  They are to do 5 Speed problems and 3 Average Speed problems...problems on one sheet and answers calculated on a separate sheet.
All due Tomorrow!
