Spanish One:
Tues: Check wkbks. re-intro verbs on page 149 at top. Leer, asistir, comer, beber, escribir, correr,beginning with escribir tarjetas, apuntes, asistir a la clase o al concierto, vivir en Collins, decidir, partir del cuarto, comer, beber, comprender la tarea, leer las tiras cómicas en el periódico,  recibir cartas. Given situations, ss choose verbs most logical to fit the situation.

Wed: Review “con que frecuencia” to discuss how often one does things.  Practice  with white boards er/ir verbs with vocab from this and last week.
Thursd: Family Vocab Somos....5 etc. Names/address vocab; ie direccion, apellido, apodos.
Friday: Students design a family tree.

Spanish 2:
Tues: go over food vocabulary.  add condiments sal/pimiento, picante, salsa, etc. Have students finish charts of organizing in categories.  Begin primer paso in restaurant chapter. Students practice pronun of food items
Wed: Culture discussion pertaining to meals in la cultura latina. Review food items with items or flashcards.  Students plan a week (mon-friday) of meals for a family of 4.
Thurs: In chapter, intro pages for restaurant vocabulary and ss work in specified groups to write a restaurant skit for 3 or 4.
Fri: skits

Spanish 3: SS writing stories all week.

Rosenau’s Lessons May 19, 2008 to May 24th

Spanish One:
Monday: Students will watch documentary on the formation of the Aztec Empire “500 Nations” and will write 15 new facts learned about Mexico and its foundation.
Tuesday: Quien es vs quienes son? Using quien in the plural; P/Q/A using pg 147 after reviewing “AR” verbs using TPR and flashcards.  Assign act 11 pg. 147 (remind them of nadie) for ss to write out questions and answers.
Wednesday: Review Activity 11 aloud; collect papers. Review les gusta, le gusta and use photos pg 147 to begin PQA. Begin er/ir verb conjugations and complete act. 16 pg 150.
Friday: Mata mosca con vocabulario espanol.

Spanish 2:
Monday: Aztec Movie above
Tuesday: Students are to gather Spanish vocab for activiites done as a child, coloring climbing, playing hide and seek, playing trucks, dolls etc. ss are to write a personal “story” about their childhood in the imperfect tense beginning with “Erase una vez un chico/chica…..
Wed: Ss share yesterdays essays as they read them aloud in class.
Thursday; Begin food vocabulary with flashcards
Friday: continue above

Spanish 3 will spend the week working on their children’s story book...

Spanish 4:
Monday: finish preps for teaching at WRE
Tuesday: Teach elem. Classes
Wed: The past subjunctive
Thursday: Ss teach at WRE
Friday: SS compete with an on the board verb conj game using all tenses.








Rosenau’s Lessons May 12th to May 16th

Spanish One: 1st and 7th periods

Monday: Students complete books first half; conjugate jugar and poder the second half.  Remind ss of test for tomorrow.
Tuesday: Chapter 4 Exam
Wednesday: Beginning er/ir verbs beginning with escribir tarjetas, apuntes, asistir a la clase o al concierto, vivir en Collins, decidir, partir del cuarto, comer, beber, comprender la tarea, leer las tiras cómicas en el periódico,  recibir cartas. Practice with chain drill.
Thursday: Intro siempre, nunca, pocas veces, una vez y muchas veces  and then  Practicing above with Quien, donde and cuando as question words.
Friday:  Go over tests from Tuesday.

Spanish 2: Periods 5 and six
Monday: Quiet reading of chapters 1 and  2 in Pobre Ana.  Ss write a summary of each chapter in Spanish.  Discussion of characters and 1st 2 chaps.
Tuesday: The discussion of a “Drama Queen” and the creation of a graphic organizer of those traits which students will use to track Ana’s character.
Wednesday: The imperfect tense
Thursday: Practice with the imperfect tense on white boards.
Friday: Talking about childhood activities and providing vocab for same.

Spanish 3:
Mon/Tuesday: Review of all tenses to prep for the children’s book.
Wed: Intro of and beginning children’s book project as student final exam project.
Thurs/Friday: Students work on above projects.

Spanish 4: Students will be working on their drama or their lesson plan presentations all this week. Tues: Students should be presenting their videos in class for a grade.



Rosenau’s Lessons Cinco de mayo hasta el 9

Monday: All classes will be celebrating the Mexican holiday .

Spanish One:
Tuesday: Workbook pg. 34 Practicing the verb “to go.” Activities 17, 18 and 19. Go over in class when done.  
Wednesday:  Conjugating jugar and poder (ue) stem changing verbs.  Practice of sports vocab with the verb jugar and the verb
Thursday; Review of gustar conjugated with all subject pronouns. White board sentence practice incorporating sports vocabulary. Use sports BINGO cards to review vocab as well as flashcards. Le gusta….Tiene ganas de…..for tomorrow
Friday: La palabra “jugador” SS create an ad in groups of 3 to 4 in which they are creating a flyer to develop a summer sports program. Student incorporate Necesita, quiere, le gusta and such verbs as correr, saltar, levantar ponerte en forma etc from last week.

Spanish 2:  Periods 5 and 6
Tuesday: Practice in the Yo and tú forms the tener expressions from last week.
Announce quiz for Thursday on irreg preterites
Wed: Review of “i” pret verbs, uv pret verbs, querer, hacer, venir, poder, poner, andar, estar, tener, saber, Intro of verbs that take a “y” (creer, oir, leer) and verbs that take a “J” conducir, traducir, decir,
Thurs: Quiz on irregular stems with irregular endings white board practice w/same.
Fri: “car, gar, zar’s” tocar, practicar, explicar, chocar, platicar, jugar,  entregar, empezar, comenzar, almorzar

Spanish 3:
Tuesday: Group 2 performs cleaning skits. Study time for test on Wednesday on all house and cleaning vocabulary.
Wed: exam on above
Thursday-Friday: Review of present, present progressive, Present perfect, tenses
Friday: preterite, imperfect, and direct/indirect object pronoun placement. Explanation of Children’s story book.

Spanish 4:
Tuesday- Wed: Ss continue writing/practicing their skits/dramas.
Thursday: “Dress Rehearsal” for skits





Rosenau’s April 28th to May 2 Lessons

Spanish 3 Period 1:
Monday-Tuesday: Students will continue writing and then practicing their group skits on household chores.
Wed: Test on household rooms, furniture and chore vocabulary
Thursday: Review of preterite and imperfect tenses followed by white board practice.
Friday: Review of future and conditional tenses followed by white board practice

Spanish 1: Periods 3 and 7
Monday: Announce quiz for Wed for vocab structures pg 113 and 115 as well as the question ¿Qué haces esta tarde?  Qué haces esta noche?  Hoy, manana…
Direccional practice with shapes and colors.
Tues: Intro of the verb “ir” to go and its conjugations.  The question: Adonde vas? Ss write a place on a piece of computer paper.  Students ask three people where they are going and ss answer with the location that they have selected. Include school areas like biblioteca, oficina de Sr. Sheldon, oficina de Sra. Todd, la cafeteria, el auditorio, el gimnasio, la clase de Sr. Jarret etc.
Wed: Quiz on vocab announced on Monday
Continued practice from yesterday as groups with similar places practice in the ellos, nosotros, vosotros forms.
Thursday: The verb Jugar with sports.  Jugar al…. ajedrez y dominoes.
Friday: The importante of dominoes in the Cuban cultura.  Ss play dominoes.

Spanish 2: Periods 6 and 7
Monday: Practice with normal ar first then er/ir conjugations with white boards contest in a row. Use deber, vivir, escribir, vender, correr, asistir, beber, comer, defender, vestir, cumplir,  
Tuesday: The two verbs to know: Saber and Conocer
Wed: Verbs irreg in preterite with “I” querer, hacer, venir.
And the irregular endings for p. tense verbs
Thurs:Verbs irreg in preterite that take a “uv” in conjugations estar, andar, tener.
White board practice with above
Friday: Poder, poner, saber Quiz on above conjugations (irreg roots and endings)

Spanish 4:
Monday-Thursday: SS write their skits for their drama performances. Monday is due date. Assign comparison/contrast opinion paper on the situation in Juarez, Mexico. Due May 23rd. 3pgs, triple spaced, typed,3 sources
Friday:  Dominoes in Cuba.  SS play Dominoes



Rosenau’s Lessons Week of April 21, 2008

Spanish 1
Monday: Dice game to practice estar conjugations with preps of location in town. Ss must write 12 sentences using each subject pronouns conjugation twice and each direction at least once.
Tuesday: Review of classroom nouns and students describe location of items in respect to teacher placement of those items. Review of Estar conjugation, “ar” verbs, places in town w/flashcards.
Wednesday: Places in town w/estar on white boards.
Thursday: The verb jugar a with sport vocabulary. Beisbol, voleibol, futbol, futbol amer, el tennis, el esquiar, baloncesto, correr la pista, el equipo, el entrenador, companero del equipo. El campeonato
Friday:  Team conjugation contest on white boards.

Spanish 2:
Monday:  Review of preterite conjugations student led. Using dice game from Sp 1
  Tues:        Provide list of verbs on board, ss conjugate on white boards with sentences practicing places in town, professions.
Wed:  Ir/ser in the pret.
Thursday: Practice above w/white boards, professions and places in town.
Friday: review of directional vocab. Read Lupita, Lupita Donde estás

Spanish 3:

Monday: Present chore charts
Tuesday: Finish above presentations
Wednesday-Friday ss write group skits using cleaning vocab

Spanish 4:
Monday:  Finish Th worksheet using the subjunctive
Tuesday-Thursday: skits for subjunctive
Friday: Students make verb game with verb cube





Rosenau's Lessons April 14th to the 18th
All Classes On Monday Finish "Elizabeth the Golden Age" from last week.

Spanish 3:
Monday/Tuesday: Students are to begin making a list of chores to be done in their homes.  Class discussion on who completes which chores in the home.  Then, ss are to complete a written description of chore assignments at home and are to create a  chore chart that lists chores calendar style and delegates chores fairly amongst family members. Must list 15 chores as a minimum
Wednesday: SS present chore charts in class and detail who will do what.
Thursday/Friday: SS are to divide into groups of 4 and are to write a skit in which teens argue over who does which chores.
Monday: Review of vocab for chores and household items.
Tuesday: Exam on household chores and rooms of a house and items found in there.

Spanish 1 Periods 3 and 7
Monday: Review estar conjugation.
Students play I spy type of game using preposition to describe where a mystery item is with in the room.
Tues:Intro places in town and school...biblioteca, librería, parque, clase, el museo, la tienda el correo, el supermercado,el gimnasio, el restaurante,el cine, la casa, el centro comercial, el trabajo, la escuela de baile.
Overhead photo to ask questions verdad? or falso? to ask where places are in relation to each other.
Tuesday: Activities 4 and 5 pg. 129 using estar.
Wed:
Students answer location questions based on activities people are doing.  Ex: Juan le gusta jugar baloncesto.  SS answers Está en el gimnasio.
Conjugation of the verb jugar and intro of sports vocab. Los deportes, el ejercicio, levantar pesas, caminar/correr in el parque...etc.
Thursday: Using photos from page 120, activity 21, students listens to a description and determine which pic is being described.
Friday: TPRS story

Spanish 2:
Monday: Intro of verb of the day.  Students conjugate the verb in both the Present and the Preterite tense as a Bell opener.
Verb conjugation practice...ss conjugate a given verb in the past tense and then add 5 words to finish the sentence using places in town and professions. They then translate the sentence to English.  
Ex: La enfermera __________________(ayudar) los pacientes anoche en el hospital.
Tuesday: Finish above and go over in class using the overhead.
Wednesday: Ir/ser in the preterite tense conjugation.   White board practice of same
Thursday: Hacer/ Querer in the preterite and practice.
Friday: Test on conjugations in the preterite including irregulars.

Spanish 4:
Monday/Tues/Wed: Students read articles about the murders of young women in Juarez Mexico.  Students watch the film Bordertown which deals with this situation.
Thursday:
Rosenau's Lessons April 7th to the 11th.
Spanish 3:
Monday: Students complete story frame descriptions and then begin presenting individual frame info to class to put the story frame back together.
Tuesday/Wed/Thursday: Students are to begin making a list of chores to be done in their homes.  Class discussion on who completes which chores in the home.  Then, ss are to complete a written description of chore assignments at home and are to create a  chore chart that lists chores calendar style and delegates chores fairly amongst family members.
Friday: BINGO with chore vocab

Spanish One: Periods 3 and 7
Monday: El verbo estar.  Repaso del vocabulario de la clase.Practica con estar/ practicando con "con quien esta????" Intro "Donde" Donde está. Privide minimal "place" in school vocab.
Tuesday: Question word song. Instruct sentence making.....Students are to write 10 questions and answers using known verbs.
Wed: Question word song, then SS complete worksheet practicing estar and locations as well as actividades. Go over. Announce quiz for quien, donde, and the verb estar.
Thurs: ?? word song. Choosing between ser/estar.
Friday: Practicing above vocab via battelship game or white boards

Spanish 2:
Monday: Practicing Ir a la and Ir al.... The verb ir to go  with white boards.
Tuesday: PRactice with the preterite tense learned on Friday via white boards.
Wed: Preterite sentence translations Eng/Spanish
Thursday: Students change a story from the present to the past tense.
Friday:Battleship with conjugated verbs in the preterite
Spanish 4:
Monday:Reviewing Usted commands as a scaffolding to the subjunctive mode.
Tuesday:Subjunctive with verbs of influence and change of subject
Wednesday: Practice above.
Thursday: assign above skit
Friday: Subjunctive game day.
