Dear Parents,
I want to clarify a few things about the language arts part of the social studies project. The students do not have to read anything beyond what is required for social studies. Students are chosing to read books, newspapers, articles, sections of their social studies text, etc. The language arts parts are due on the 17th and 25th of February. No part of the language arts requirements is due this week. The students have a packet which explains the requirements but all of the work will be done in their writing composition book. They may type their work and then paste it into the notebook. The report includes:
1. List 5 new facts
2. Summary of a chapter/article (no more than a paragraph
3. Vocabulary words (6 new words/concepts)
4. 3 opinions/or explain what they think the impact of 3 facts from part 1 have had in history
5. tell a friend why he should read the book/article
6. Piece of information that they found most interesting
7. Author's purpose for writing the book/article
inform,entertain, persuade, explain or describe
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
