All Classes - Root Word of the Week -  Latin root
magnus - meaning - big, large, great

Each day students will record a derivative and its meaning.  Today's words were   magnify  and magnitude

8th Grade - Students have just completed reading A Single Shard.  A field trip to the Ankeny High School is scheduled for Tuesday.  Students will observe
Mr. Zuck's pottery classes as an integrated activity for the Single Shard.   Mr. Caster will wrap-up discussion activities Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  Students will choose a final project as assessment for The Single Shard.

Students are also working on spelling and vocabulary.
Practice and review activities will be part class instruction each day.  A spelling/vocabulary quiz will be given at the end of the week.  Students should be practicing spelling and vocabulary words each day as homework.

On Thursday and Friday, Mrs. Gallt will begin practice and review for the upcoming ITBS/ITEDS. We will be taking and going over this material in class, but I would appreciate parents going over the material with the students at home also.  The more prepared they are, the more comfortable they will be with the testing situation.

read.

Students will also continue working on vocabulary and spelling.  A quiz with be given toward the end of the week.

Mrs. Gallt will begin practice and preparation for the ITEDS/ITBS on both Thursday and Friday.  I will go over the material with students in class, but I would very much appreciate parents going over the practice material at home as reinforcement.

9th Grade - Students are working on poetry lessons with Mr. Caster.  They will be completing their poetry assignments, as well as completing a final copy of their short stories.

Students are also practicing and reviewing a vocabulary /spelling unit each day in class.  Students should be practicing and reviewing at home also.  A quiz will be forthcoming at the end of the week.
