READING: Please do not let your child move their fingers from word to word when reading. They need to let their eyes move instead. Please don’t let them play with the edges of their books either. The reading assignments for this week are:

MATH: The students will discuss number sense for application to real-life situations. They will count groups of ten and ones and write the total number. They will use zero as a place holder to represent numbers with tens and no ones.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We will be studying Christmas traditions.
SCIENCE: We will start the chapter on Forces (Pushes & Pulls).
SPELLING: The test on Friday will be over words ending in ck:
duck, back, neck, kick, pick, sick, rock, sock, have*, or*
* means they don’t follow the rule.
The challenge words for those getting 100% on the pretest are mother and father
CHRISTMAS GIFT EXCHANGE: Please don’t forget the Christmas grab bag gift exchange! Girls should bring a girl’s gift and boys should bring a boy’s gift. The cost of the gift should be around $5.00. Please put your child’s name on the tag. Our party will be Friday, December 19, 2008. Please do not bring gifts until December 15th or later. Thanks.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: We need all contributions in by Friday, December 5th, so we have time to pack the boxes. Our speaker comes to chapel on Wednesday, December 10th and will take our boxes then. Please get everything in as soon as possible! We have enough washcloths and boys underwear. We need things for our girl box.
