ASSESSMENTS
If our school year was compared to a tank of gas, we would have 1/8 of a tank left to go! The year is almost over. Please be sure your children are well rested, fed, and pumped up to do their best. End-of-the-year assessments are in progress....
FUN WITH BALLS
We are enjoying "Fun with Balls" in P.E. class. We are throwing/catching balls, kicking/fielding balls, and seeing how many times we can bounce the ball! Each time we practice, we try to meet/beat our personal best! Beautiful ribbons are hanging on the bulletin board in the classroom as incentives to do our best. Ribbons will be awarded in class on Wednesday, May 28th!
READING
Many of us are reading already! Yippee! We can see similarities in words. We can build words and sound words out using what we know about letters and sounds. We are also learning that the meaning of the story will help us figure out which word is the best word to use (context clues).
MATH
We have mastered counting to 100. Many of us can even write #1-100. Basic grouping and addition strategies help us solve math problems. Conting up, adding on, and etimating to see what makes the most sense are things we talke aobut while working with math manipulatives, like links. We love to create basic addition sentences using colored boxes to X and math symbols (+ =) Example: X X X + X X = 5
PHONICS
We know all of our letters and sounds! Ask us to do the Letter People Rap. It will take about five minutes. Each Letter has a rhythm and a rhyme to help us remember what is special about each Letter Person from Letter People Land.
Example:
A A
Achoo`
Capital A says /a`/
Lower case a says /a`/
THEMES
Springtime themes about nature and weather continue throughout the month of May. The end of May we will pick-up again with our Healthy Habits theme that we started in the winter.
God is my hero!!
