The Holy Trinity School Newsletter
www.holytrinitys.org
Holy Trinity School is a parish–based school intended to form and educate its students in the Catholic Faith and in academic subjects that are appropriate to each grade level.  The school assists parents/guardians in the task of developing the knowledge, skills, character and spirituality of their children who are enrolled and entrusted to its care.

As our students know and greatly anticipate, next week is the Thanksgiving Holiday with a four day break from school.  Did you know that the word “holiday” comes from the two words “Holy Day?”  In fact, the observance of Thanksgiving was established long ago by President Lincoln with a religious purpose: to offer thanks to God for all the blessings we enjoy as a nation.  As with so many other Holy Days turned holiday, however, much of our nation will completely overlook the religious aspect and celebrate the day in a purely secular manner.  Let us not fall into the secular trap and abandon the original meaning of our national holidays and religious holy days.  I trust that all our school parents will insure that their children know that Thanksgiving Day is an opportunity to thank God for our blessings. Among the things that you might do as a family: attend Mass on Thanksgiving Day (9:00 am at Holy Trinity); insure that you say a meal prayer together for your Thanksgiving Dinner; have each person at the dinner table express one thing for which they are especially thankful.  I wish you all a blessed Thanksgiving Day!

Father Echert

As I approach my first Thanksgiving at Holy Trinity School, I am very thankful to God for the many blessings He has poured out upon us during these first several months of the school year.  First of all, I am very thankful for the great staff here.  They have been “top-notch” in their work, enthusiastic, and just great to work with.  The parent volunteerism has been fantastic—from the Home and School Association to the Marketing Committee to the field trip chaperones to the playground monitors.   I’m also thankful for Father Echert and his strong support and leadership of our school and parish.

Last – but my no means least—I am very thankful for the students here at Holy Trinity.  I have noticed several things about them that seem especially unique:

1).  They really seem happy—even while waiting          outside on a cold morning before they go in to start the school day.
2).  They really seem to like and love their teachers.
3).  They really seem to like their fellow students and enjoy being together.
4).  They have a great “service” ethic.
5).  They sincerely rejoice when something good happens to one of their classmates—such as winning a prize, etc.
