In The Spotlight:
No school: Monday, May 26th. Have a wonderful Memorial Day.
Reading, Writing & Grammar:
This week we read the story “Out There” and worked on writing titles using quotation marks correctly. Next week students will take the Unit 6 vocabulary, grammar, & comprehension tests. Students should study their unit 6 vocabulary for test on Thursday. We will review for the comprehension and grammar tests in class. Students are able to use their notes for the grammar test on Wednesday.
The genre for the month of May is Realistic Fiction. Students must have their book read and in class on May 26th. The assignment for the novel will be completed in class next week.
Students are also working on a persuasive writing piece. Final copies are due on Wednesday, May 27th. Students will be presenting their papers in class next week.
Math:
Students took the Chapter 11 Test on Wednesday, May 22nd. On Thursday we began Chapter 13: Percents. The test on the first half of Chapter 13 will be on Tuesday, June 2nd.
Social Studies:
Next week students will continue to work on their end-of-the-year group projects. All four projects (timelines, advertisements, songs, & jeopardy questions) will be completed in class by Friday, May 29th. During the last week of school students will present their projects to their classmates.
Science:
Next week students will complete chapter 3. A test covering chapters 2 & 3 will fall on Friday, May 29th. Study guides were handed our last week and a review will be held in class on Thursday.
Religion:
We will study chapters 19 & 20. There will be a combined quiz on Thursday, May 28th. There will be a Unit Test on Tuesday, June 2nd.
Spanish:
6th grade Spanish Quiz Thursday, May 28th! This is the last Spanish quiz of the year and will cover material from Unit 2B. We will review in class together prior to the quiz. Students should use their study guides to prepare and are welcome to come to the review sessions Wednesday, May 27th during lunch recess or after school from 3:30-4:15.
