Welcome to our website! I hope that you will find the
information on our site helpful. I encourage students
to use the assignment postings as a back-up to their
assignment notebooks or to keep informed about what's going
on at school while they are absent. I caution the students
from becoming too dependent on the postings since I can
guarantee that there will be days when my computer doesn't
cooperate or maybe it will be your computer that is
uncooperative. I suggest bookmarking this page or
saving it in your "Favorites" file so it is easy to get
to. Keeping organized and turning assignments in on time
are the keys to a successful school year!

MATH TIPS
Are you looking for a way to help your child with math? The
most important thing that you can do to help your child right
now is to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division facts. These have already been taught in previous
grades so we will not spend much time on teaching the actual
math facts in 4th grade. However, we will be using them all the
time! It is very difficult for students to keep their place in
multi-step math processes when they have to keep stopping to
figure out math facts that they cannot remember. So, as simple
as it sounds, this is one of the best ways to help your child
get a head start in math this year!
MAKE-UP WORK
Students missing school because of an illness or vacation will
be allowed the same number of days to make up the work as there
were days missed (special arrangements need to be made if it is
over one week or at the end of the quarter). A sibling,
neighbor, or friend can get the make-up work at the end of the
school day in which the student is absent. Parents may also
pick up the work in the office before 5:00 if a message is left
on Mrs. Kampa's voice mail so that she is sure to drop it off.
Please do not expect that teachers will be able to organize
assignments in advance for vacations. It is difficult to
accurately determine how much material will be covered on any
given day. This does not mean that teachers will never give any
assignments in advance because long range assignments, extensive
reading assignments, and test preparation are examples of things
that will be given in advance if possible. Please notify
teachers one week in advance about extensive vacations (3 days
or more) and expect that there will be work to be made up when
your child returns to school. (This policy can be found in the
student handbook).
Reading Adventure One great feature of this website is that it can help you find books to read that are at your reading level and about things you are interested in.
Fun School There are many fun games to play here. I especially encourage you to practice keyboading skills by going to 3rd/4th grade and playing TYPE ME.
Endangered Animals Here is the website to help you choose an endangered animal for your science brochure.
Xcel Energy - How electricity is made If you want to know more about how our electricity is made here in St. Paul, go to this site and take a virtual tour!
