Science:
We are studying the nervous system. Every day we have a brain teaser-stressing one of Howard Gardner's 8 intelligences. We are creating models of the body. Each lab group traced a group member and then gave them a spine. They are stringing yarn through the spine to represent the nerves of the body.
Science flashcards went home 2/5/09. The test on the nervous system will be the week of Feb. 16.
Language:
We are writing poetry using similes and metaphors.
Students will enter their poem in the Blessed Trinity poetry contest this spring. This next week we will type the poems and get them ready for the final copy.
Feb. 7-8 is Pack the Pews at St. Richard's-wear your green sweatshirt
Feb. 13 We will have a Valentine's Day party. Student lists are on the back of the 4th grade scoop. It is not necessary for students to bring Valentine's for both classes, but we ask that if you want to give to just a few students in the other class, it is done outside of school so as not to have anyone feeling left out.
We are following a slightly changed schedule this second half of the year. When the "bugs" are worked out, we will be sending one home with the students.
Sign-up-for-conference-slips went home today (buff-colored), Feb. 6. Please fill it out and return by 2/20.
