The end of the year is quickly approaching. The students have been doing a great job staying on task and completing all their end of the year assessments. We finished up on our AIMS Web assessments this week. We will start on our report card assessments this coming week. I do these assessments during center time therefore, there were no guided reading groups this week or this coming week. Please make sure you are reading with your son/daughter at home.
Monday: In writing we worked on understanding the trait of word choice. We worked on coming up with sensory words to describe oranges and flowers.
In centers we worked on telling time to the hour, following written directions and addition to 5.
In math students were provided with concrete experiences with figuring out missing numbers in equations.
Tuesday: In writing we began to understand the trait of conventions. We correct sentences for errors in capitalization, spacing, and end marks.
In centers we worked on identifying and comparing numbers, phonological awareness – hearing middle sounds, and addition combinations to ten.
In math we were introduced to how to model number stories on a calculator.
Wednesday: In writing we learned the purpose of lists. We wrote out own lists.
In centers we worked on subtracting from five and graphing.
In math we learned the use of nonstandard units on a pan balance.
Thursday: In writing we began to understand the purpose of signs and labels we wrote signs and labels.
In centers we spelling CVC words and played baseball with our magic words.
In math we were introduced to the $10 bill.
Friday: In writing we learned to understand the purpose of a note or a card. We wrote notes and cards today.
We worked on an end of the year poetic keepsake book.
The PM class attended a retirement assembly for Dr. Vandursh and Mrs. Vogel.
