2nd period LITERATURE 103:  (Read your AR novel nightly 18 pages per day)  Review your,"The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe, poem notes. (List any Literary Device Terms you may notice - for example: personification, alliteration, assonance, foreshadowing, simile, metaphor, etc.).
Vividly describe (journal entry)your interpretation of this poem, stanza by stanza.  Assignment should be approximately one page, double-spaced, Times Roman, size 12.  Due Monday.  

3rd period LITERATURE 201: Read your AR novel (12-13 pages per day). "Where the Red Fern Grows" list any Literary Device Terms you may notice - for example - personification, alliteration, foreshadowing, simile, metaphor, etc.). Complete "Red Fern" Chapter 13 "Choppy Sentence" worksheets.

CONNECTIONS Study Skills:  7 Habits of Effective Teens - review habits 1, 2, 3 & 4 notes.  Complete Study Skills worksheets.

Knowledge versus Wisdom = same or different?  "Wisdom is to the mind what health is to the body."

"The true meaning of discipline is not punishment, but the development of self-control and teamwork, which allow one to strive for perfection and the accomplishment of goals."

LANGUAGE 8th R/W/B:   Vocabulary Toon quiz on first 20 words is Friday.  Write two-page journal entry for this prompt:  "A police officer stopped the driver for speeding and ..."  OR "I was shipwrecked on a desert island when ..."  Concentrate on using complete sentences (no run-ons) and zero convention errors.  "Appreciation Day" - Write a formal letter, a poem (we've covered many), or make a nice "Thank You" card. Due 13 Nov.

THIS IS GOING TO BE YOUR MOST SUCCESSFUL ACADEMIC AND MOST FUN SCHOOL YEAR YET.  COME TO SCHOOL WITH AN OPEN MIND TO LEARN AND A POSITIVE ATTITUDE TO EXCEL.
