Welcome to Sixth Grade

and to Junior High Science

Sixth Grade Homeroom:

Hello 6A!! Happy St. Patrick's Day! 'Looking forward to a great spring break.

Sixth Grade Religion: The boys and girls in 6A and 6B will be in class together.

Sixth Grade Science: Earth and Space

Week of March 10: We begin our new book - Weather and Climate. The kids will be completing a targeted reading worksheet as well as one worksheet intended to reinforce the topics we have been discussing in class for each of our book's sections 2-4.

Our test for chapter 1 will be on March 20th!

Seventh Grade Science: Life

Week of March 10th: We continue on with Genetics! This is a fun unit where we discuss everthing from DNA to chromosomes, Gregor Mendel to punnett squares! Beginning on March 17th, we will do a genetics disease research project.

The test on our genetics unit will be on March 19th!

Eighth Grade Science: Physical

Week of March 10th - After taking our test on acids and bases, we start the last chapter in our studies on chemistry. We will begin to discover the role of carbon in chemistry and in life on earth. As always, students are encouraged to complete vocabulary for each section of the book and to spend a few quiet minutes every evening studying concepts.

As for homework, each section of chapter 4 will feature a worksheet intended to reinforce concepts from the book. The chapter will be broken up into halves as I don't feel it is necessary to attempt to push this interesting topic too quickly before spring break.
