                     Kindergarten News

Dear Kindergarten Families,
It has been a great week in kindergarten!  We have only 22 days left of school.  We are getting close to becoming first graders and we are ready!

This week we learned to read the word 'of'.  We have been reviewing short vowel sounds this week.  I think  that everyone knows these sounds well.  I am very proud of the students for how hard they have been working on sounding out words!  In religion we talked about Mary.  We enjoyed the Mary crowning and liked the beautiful flowers that were placed on her head.  We know she helps to guide us just like our moms do.  The kindergarten also learned that she taught us about praying the rosary.  In science this week we read from many cool dinosaur books with Mr. Pacini.  We have so many questions about dinosaurs and we can't wait to make our trip to the children's museum.  Finally, this week we talked about why our moms our so special before this Mother's Day weekend.  Many said that they love the way you help and take care of them.  They also love the sweet treats you make!!  The students were excited to bring home your gifts!  I wish all moms a wonderful weekend!

Next week we will learn to read the word "would".  It will be our last reading unit.  We will begin a unit on geometry and fractions in math.  This will also be our last math unit.  I am going to be sending home both reading and math books in a few weeks.   The students may want to finish some of the pages they missed when they were absent.  We will also begin a unit on flowers.

Beginning this week Ms. N. will be seeing a different group of kindergarteners to play a simply reading game and be able to meet her!

Have a great weekend and I will see you all on Monday!
Ms. Pontarelli
