PLEASE NOTE: Videos on the internet have been extremely slow the past couple of weeks.

SOLUTION: Multi-Task! If the video starts and stops,
Click the "Pause Button" at the bottom of the screen, walk away for five minutes & do a chore
(help wash the dishes, etc.), study your Spiral Ring Notebook Vocabulary and Graphic Organizers
for five minutes, or just "chill out". When you come back, slide the bar (at the bottom of the
video) back to the beginning & click the "Play" Button. It should now play all the way through
without stopping and load faster on the SAME Computer the next time you view it!

When you run into a "Brick Wall", Don't be Stubborn, Be Persistent!
STUBBORN - same method and same result.
PERSISTENT - different method to same goal but different result.
Try different methods to reach your goals!
Review your Spiral Ring Notebook & Graphic Organizer regularly. If that doesn't
work for you, Use tutorial before & after school and reviews with Mr. Peel.
If the textbook doesn't work for you, use the MP3 Audio with the textbook.
If the Practice Tests Online don't help, use Mr. Peel's FlashCard Review (above).
(Remember to bring your review sheets home in case your computer crashes
or the internet "goes down".)
Be PERSISTENT. Try different methods to reach your Goal !

I spent all kinds of time making Pod Cast Reviews for our Verbal Learners, several
thousand dollars on manipulatives for our kinesthetic learners, and tons of time making
interactive online reviews for our visual learners. And Yet, I still have some students
who will go online, print out the reviews, and study from the paper copy!
(Remember the “Paperless Society”, established 1980. Hey, what happened ? )

E X T R A C R E D I T
1st Quarter EXTRA CREDIT - We've been learning about the Summerians, Egyptians, & Phoenicians.
Now You Can Make Your Own Rosetta Stone! Google "Your Name in Cuneiform", "Your Name in
Heiroglyphics", and "Your Name in Phoenician" (Watch your spelling). Get a piece of clay at a
craft store (mexican pottery clay?) and put your initials in the clay with a wedge shaped stylus,
use glitter glue or paint to write your name in Heiroglyphics, and scratch your name in Phoenician.
Write your name in English on the back. LET IT DRY BEFORE you bring it to school! Don't worry if
it cracks! Just glue it back together and it will look REALLY OLD! Due Oct. 30 in order to get
credit for this Quarter. Otherwise it will go on the second quarter grade.
Of Course, you could always turn it in early!
2nd Quarter EXTRA CREDIT - Be able to recite the Ancient Civilizations Timeline (Above)
(and page R20 in the back of the Textbook).
OR Watch Mr. Peel's Video "Does History Repeat Itself?", VOTE,
and then write a persuasive essay defending your position !
3rd Quarter EXTRA CREDIT -
Earn DOUBLE Extra Credit!
Science Fair - Science / Scientific Method, etc. - Social Studies / Research, Charts, etc.
(You may also do the Ancient Civilizations Timeline if you haven't done it yet!)
OR As we read about the Roman Republic this quarter, see if you can find the ideas about Government
